[SOLVED] CDJ 2000 Display Issues

Hi Folks,

Having a bizarre problem with one of my 2000's. One of my DJ's was upgrading the firmware on our machines (this might be a total coincidence), it seems that after the upgrade, one machine now is behaving badly. It powers up fine, we get the Pioneer logo screen, but afterwards, the display flashes on and off every 10 seconds or so, and in the left middle of the display a little "spinning" symbol appears with the word "waiting" right below it. It will load a cd, but not play it, and it won't recognise a jump drive plugged in to the port on top, unless I am in the firmware upgrade mode. When I enter the upgrade mode, it sees the files on the drive, I get the upgrade screen (the four file bars DO appear), but everything stays at 0%. Anyone have any ideas? I am pulling my hair out with this one (highly unusual for me, being a bench tech / soundman for 20 years). Thanks in advance for any light you might be able to shed on the subject!

"When I enter the upgrade mode, it sees the files on the drive, I get the upgrade screen (the four file bars DO appear), but everything stays at 0%." Seems he's tried that already.

Hey guys, thanks for the responses. Yeah, I did try the re-flashing, and tried the factory reset (hold usb stop and disc eject, push and hold power at the same time, release all and cycle power) to no avail. Any other suggestions?....I am ready to throw this flipper out of a window.....

So how long did you leave it sitting at 0% in FW upgrade mode? Hopefully it maybe only needed a extra minute or two.

@Bob > It seems like the problem stemmed from an incomplete firmware update. Again, I would try re-flashing the firmware and leave it for a reasonable amount of time to update. If nothing happens after about 10mins or you'll need to take the unit in to a service centre for repair. Contact links are on the right >>
