For what its worth i didn't upgrade to the nexus as i didn't think it was worth it for the extra features it gave me,
for the sake of a big wave form and sync i cannot see any real benefits.
ok so my current set up is 1 x cdj1000 mk3 and 1 x cdj 2000 mk1 with djm2000 mk1...... so im buying a new deck to repalce my 1000mk3
so the question is (now that the nexus dust has settled) what player would be best?
i have been offered a trade in for 2 cdj1000mk3's and 400£ for an ex demo 2000mk1, should i go for it? or pay extra and get the nexus?
not bothered about synch so what else can the nexus player offer me that a mk1 cant? bare in mind I have a djm2000 mk1 so cant do wireless with a nexus
would really appreciate anyone's feedback

The nexus is a better made CDJ the the 2000 MK1. The wave in my opinion is a great feature and makes a big difference in the 2 players. And even if you dont use the sync feature or want the sync feature?? It has slip mode. Slip mode loops. Your cue points are loaded with the song. The Platter is smoother. Master Tempo is wayyyyyyy better then the 2000 MK1. Although it has its bugs/issues, go with the nexus.
Dont assume its future proof, a new CDJ will be out in 2 years time (Pioneers general new model time span). Everything has a shelf life and at some point the Nexus will be replaced.
Just saying :o)
Yep Your right Ken... And the next cdj's will probably not sell at all cause we will be tired of keep buying new cdj's every 3 yrs. Perfect what you have Pioneer.
Imo 2000 are better why? Because there are mo stable players ... Plus change the new nexus for features i dont use at all which it is sync master sync slip mode which doesnt works ok lol aint worth at all on my dj booth
Sync does not work PERFECT. But it works. Slip mode IMO works fine. Not all of the Nexus users are having the same issues. Like Mac users were not seeing issues that PC users were having. Until some awesome troubleshooting by the forum members found a fix for PC users. It all opinions whether the MK1 or Nexus is a better player?? But why buy something that is discontinued, and NOT supported anymore?? It don't make any sense to me.... IMO.
The 2k isnt discontinued and while there hasn't been any firmware updates for a since oct i think you will find it is still supported,
Just sayin.....
Never said the 2k(nexus) was discontinued. I said the MK1 (cdj2000) was discontinued. And the Nexus just had a update a week ago.. And if you thing the MK1(cdj2000) is still being supported?? LOL Time to wake up. You might be able to find some help here on the forum... But I would bet my check that the Pio Engineers are spending ANY time on the CDJ2000 MK1. Im sure there focus is the Nexus and the future of RB. Makes no sense to buy a discontinued non supported product... IMO
So what you think pete its like an universal law? Lol sorry mate but sounds funny. Jus my humble point not because you love your djm 2000 and cdj 2000 nexus or maybe because pioneer sell us their new product as the last coke of the desert mean this concept fits ino everybody
Just my personal experience with djm 2000 ( effects wise ) are ok but used it for some days at a gig and volume was way to hi , lay out is not my choice and touch screen is useless for me. Of course
Cdj 2000 nexus the stability problems plus wave form and mastersync and beat sync ,, for my needs aint worth to buy them around six months ago i sold my 1000mk3 's and chanbed to the cdj 2000 mk1 seller offered me the nexus and im glad. Didnt picked those cd players
But no because they are discontinued cdj 2000 mk 1 its brainless to buy them or because djm 2000 nexus pr djm2000 its sold as the flagship means its way better than djm900 nexus
Take care and enjoy what ever you own in the back days dj technics , music selection were much apreciated than dj gear
Sorry for the mispelling words bu i usually post from my ipad or iphone
I came from 900's and went to the nexus and could not be happier. I don't see the point of up grading to an older model if you can afford the latest technology. Technology processes of cause some thing won't be quiet right to start with but we live in the day and age of firmware updates. I'd would rather put my hard earned money into something that Pio are hard at work still developing.
Can't comment on anything you said d.j. cosmic because none of it makes any sense to me?? Sorry. Might be the translation to English??
Well said Morgo...
Oh ok thought this language was called english mine might be way off the gramar aint that good lol.
Forget it just keep buying the newest gear.
Newest gear nowdaya makes better dj's i think that is the concept of todays dj world
Ben
I'm sorry Pete i think you are mistaken. i never said the 2k (nexus) was discontinued
It is supported but not developed these are 2 different things,
Look here they are still being headlines on the pioneer site,
http://pioneerdj.com/english/products/player/
The nexus is only really any use if you have a djm2000/900 and not everyone wants nor uses a djm as there are other mixers out there for people to use which the 2k mk1 goes with.
if they were discontinued surely pioneer would state this officially?
guys thanks for the feedback so far, i guess my question has to be is the nexus worth paying nearly an extra 500 for. I can trade in my 2 cdj1000's and 400 cash for a cdj2000 (ex demo from why buy new).... if i go for the nexus i can get 600 off the price of a brand new nexus
so my real question is, is it worth the extra 4 to 5 hundred pounds for a brand new nexus compared to a ex demo 2000
Its totally up too you buy what you feel is right for you and your situation ;)
No, is my opinion.
I have just been looking at this as i have an opertunity to sell my 2000s and upgrade but i have still decided against it,
Why would i sell my 2000s and add another 1000 pound to be able to do what i am already doing with my current set up.
Its just a waste of money as the features do not warrent the extra spend!
However i do not complain about my 2000s as uch as others do and am more than happy with them on the current firmware.
I upgraded from 2000's to the 2000 Nexus because the cost for me was minimal and I LOVE the 3 major features on the upgrade. 1. the zoomed moving wave 2. auto load of hot cues and 3. Active loop. Those 3 features alone made the upgrade for me personally worth every penny. The shame of it though is 2 and 3 they probably could just add to the MK1 via FW, LOL
In fact almost everything on the nexus could be added to the 2000 with a firmware upgrade. The key processing chips on the 2000 and nexus are identical apart from the DSP chip (and I suspect that only changed because the one in the 2000 is discontinued). There's also a new apple authentication module, but that shouldn't prevent things like auto load of hot cues from working.
This does open up the possibility of upgrading your 2000 to a nexus by buying the new parts (e.g. the sync button) and installing them.
All the features BriChi mentioned you can get them fail proof if you use your CDJ200 Mk1 as a cheap controller. Get the latest Traktor version and you will have everything with one plus - Traktor never fails like the nexus does all the time.
leaning towards the nexus as i like the scrolling wave feature.... i reckon this will be good for scratching as you can visually see the wave when its playin
again thanks to everyone for there opinions, has really helped so far :)
@tripster, nope the core CPU and gpu are the same in both models. In fact the 2000 has more ram than the nexus.
I'd happily show you the 2 service manual parts pages, particularly the core components part pages, but i'm sure pioneer will delete the post. You can the components are the same on both models
i'd love the SM for the nexus just so I can downgrade to 1.06, 1.11 sucks
