[CLOSED] CDJ CD reading tolerance

I've had a preowned 850 for about 6 months now and mainly use the USB feature with CD use from time to time. in my line of work, I often DJ at event with performances where the performr would give me their music on cd. During one really time restrictive event, I did not have time to test out the performance music on cue like I usually do. Half way through the number, the CDJ just wigged out and skipped on part of the song for like 10 seconds so I ofcourse faded out and apologized. Upon inspection of the CD, it had little to NO scratches but had one thumb sized smudge on it. Should the CDJ be able to read through the smudge or is this normal? It could have also been the Name brand and record speed but I basically want to get an idea from some the long time users in here how picky or sturdy the 850 is with cheap or poorly burned media or is my 850 maybe failing? This is the ONLY time that thi has ever happened and the CD was NOT scratched.

@Alison > If thats the only time it has happened and hasn't happened since, then its likely your CDJ is just fine. There are a large number of factors that could have caused the CDJ to skip - bad burning / bad audio files / a piece of dirt on the CD (or in your case a particularly bad smudge) / bad blank CD brand etc. Did you get any error code?
