[CLOSED] CDJ-2000 Nexus feature request

Some features I would like to see in future firmware updates:

  1. Quantized track skipping (length configurable in my settings) via track search and skip buttons, using long or short press, user configurable so that these buttons can retain original functionality for those who use them.

  2. Quantized track search using needle search strip (engaged when the platter is not pressed), with the possibility of setting the number of bars it skips by; triggered when needle search strip is released.

  3. Possibility of storing 32 beat loops.

  4. Possibility of setting (in my settings) the length of loops selectable in loop/slip loop mode via needle search strip.

  5. Ability to turn on and off hot cue auto load on the unit itself (for example in the settings menu).

  6. Ability to delete hot cues/loops on the unit itself (for example by holding desired hot cue button and pressing the delete button).

  7. Ability to set active loop on the unit itself (with a combination of buttons or for example a long press of the memory button).

  8. Auto loading hot cues in the background (the main reason I don't use hot cue capability as much as I'd like to is the fact that it takes forever to load 3 hot cues).

  9. Additional beatgrid manipulation options: current design of moving the beat grid is sufficient for cues, but very cumbersome when wanting to finely set the beat grid so two (or more) tracks are synced perfectly. It's much simpler and faster to correct using platter, but than it's not possible to lock the decks together. What I'd like to see is the ability to lock relative positions of beatgrids or to set the beatgrid of one track to the position that corresponds to the beatgrid of the master track. Additional functionality could be controlled via a combination of sync button (for example long press, or pressing both master and sync) and needle search strip. On one hand, I don't have time nor desire for setting beatgrids "by ear" using Rekordbox metronome, on the other, some tracks sound better together when they're slightly out of phase.

  10. It'd be nice if column showing key didn't use half the display space in browse mode and would thus enable the use of 3 columns (key plus two that are now configurable), display space could be further optimized by the ability to select whether artwork is displayed or not.

  11. Engagement of emergency loop when opening SD card port during playback.

  12. It'd be nice, if master allocation was configured to move to another unit when pitch bending via platter.

good suggestions!

I also did the same suggestion for Number 10:

I don't need the vinyl icon ( album art) ....

At that place I want To see for example the KEY.

If you would sort by TRACK , you would see the Title + Artist and the key in one line!

Now when I sort on Key , I only have the title displayed...

See attached pic!

@theone - you could just swap out your album art for jpegs of the musical keys. would only take 10 minutes to do your whole collection...

@ Phil , I could do that , but it isn't a good solution...

And like Gasper said, It will slowdown the browsing.

We don't need workarounds .... we need solutions for everyone!

The screen needs to display more useful info... with is different for everyone else.

Yes, have that artwork column be an option, I dont use artwork either and it's a waste of space

all the suggestions are great ones especially

5. Ability to turn on and off hot cue auto load on the unit itself (for example in the settings menu).

8. Auto loading hot cues in the background

auto loading definitely needs to be improved, at times it takes way too long and I am waiting to play a track while these things load, it should either load in the background or just be available instantly like serato/Traktor

also, My added suggestion is lose the friggin menu animation, the 2000MK1 is so much faster going in and out of playlists because it does not have the dumb swipe animation between menus, its so pointless, dj's need the speed, not "cool looking" menu animation
