[SOLVED] CDJ 2000 Nexus (Now Loading Error)

Hi all , for the 1st time on Saturday I experienced a problem with one of my CDJ 2000 Nexus decks.

I am on firmware v1.10. I use an external harddrive which has always worked flawlessly with tracks analyzed by the Rekordbox.

I went to load a track (MP3 320bit) into the deck with the hard drive in (not the linked one) which I have played a thousand times before and the deck froze on me just saying "now loading".

All I could do was turn off and turn on the deck again to get it going again. This was a bit of a pain as it was the deck with the hard drive in. Luckily I had a backup hard drive which I pugged into the "linked" deck which was playing, switched from link to USB and loaded a new track. obviously there was a slight pause between tracks, not good as I had a full dancefloor at the time!

I resisted upgrading to firmware v1.11 as a few people seemed to be having problems with it.

To be honest prior to this "freeze" on Saturday my decks have been fine on v1.10 since March when I bought them.

Anyway does anyone know if this has been a common problem that is now sorted with firmware v1.13?

I was playing a bar last week when this happened and just got away with it. However I am playing a 1000 capacity nightclub this weekend and cannot afford for this to happen in there!

Any help greatly appreciated.

Paul

@Paul > This could be one of the bugs that was addressed in the most recent update:

  • Fixed an issue where the browse screen would become slow or stop when the unit is used for several hours.
  • Fixed an issue where the BACK button does not navigate to the browse screen
when editing a playlist in rekordbox while the unit is connected to rekordbox via the Pro DJ Link.
  • Fixed a rare issue where playback from other media would not start, stop or be selected
when a large USB device (e.g. 20,000 tracks) is disconnected.
  • Fixed an issue where the unit freezes when pressing the HOT CUE (REC/CALL) button for over 1 second during auto hot cue loading.

I'd also like to know what USB device you were using and if you had played that particular track before?

Hi Gavin thanks for the reply. The hard drive I use is this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251156838635?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 I have never had a problem with it in over 3 years. The track I played I have played loads of times before.  It is bizzare it suddenly happened.

Before the weekend just gone I upgraded to firmware 1.13 and had no problems Friday or Saturday so fingers crossed!

@Paul > To be honest, the fact that the drive appears completely unbranded doesn't instill me with the greatest of confidence in its performance ability - especially for live music environments. However, given that you've used it without incidence in the last 4 years perhaps is indicative its not at fault here.

I'd be interested to hear if you've any issues since upgrading to the newer firmware which, it appears, may have resolved your issue.
