[CLOSED] CDJ 2000 Update Add Ons

Maybe this thread already exists but I personally have not seen it. Basically what do you want to see in future updates to the CDJ 2000, that you think are possible.

  1. The hot cues light up red on the waveform if they are not loaded in the Cue banks. You don't know how many times I think the cue is loaded based of the waveform hit Cue A and jump to my previous song by mistake.

  2. Needle search can be used for finding tracks when browsing. An interesting implementation would be if one used the search knob alphabetically then used the needle search to scroll through all the artists' names beginning with that letter. For example if one was looking for the artist Coldplay, one would use the search knob to jump to the letter C, then put their finger on the middle of the needle search to take them to the middle of all artists beginning with C, and use the search knob again to find the specific artist.

  3. This one is more of a gimmick, but add an option for the cdj to light up red when the jog wheel is touched if the players are not connected to a ethernet hub.

Sorry for the above it was written on the ipad and for some reason ipad and pioneer dj forum don't have spaces.  Here is my list with spaces, please mods erase the above if possible thanks.

I made a couple threads regarding future implementations. Here is a list of things I sent Pioneer davey dave and others 3 years ago.

  1. Add extra hot cue or even two if possible. Have it glow red when hot cues are available and blue if recording a cue is available.

  2. Have sample mode which djs can essentially makes the hot cues switch to sample mode. Djs can switch seamlessly to both modes. When in sample mode the cues light up white when there is a sample. Djs also can sample up to 12 seconds each bank. Djs can also disconnect the cdj and still have there samples saved in the cdj itself. Great for mobile djs who want to save dj drops, dj scratches and acapellas ect...

  3. Have rekordbox in the cdj itself(a new version) pretty much no need for a laptop because the cdj will allow editing, analyzing all on the hardware itself.

  4. Allow quantized needle jump feature. Works by allowing the dj to jump anywhere in the track while the track is still playing. It would jump quantized to the closest down beat.

  5. Allow remix mode where a dj can loop up to 32 beats and press the needle strip at any part of the loop. When doing this the dj would create a feedback loop which can essentially remix and record the different chopping of the loop. While in remix mode the actual track will play on the master uninterrupted. The dj through the cue button would be the only one that would hear the remix until the user is out of remix mode which finalizes the remix. So the dj can fast forward and stop the track but the master while in remix mode would play uninterrupted.

  6. Play dvds for live video mixing, also allow the next djm mixer to create color effects and beat effects that can either effect the song or the video or both at the same time. For instance if you where to create a trans on the track you can cut the song and the video or just the video or the song.

  7. Allow customizable waveforms. Djs can customize when the cdj detects a drop, build, acapella and drive of the track. The dj can assign a particular color for each one. So if the dj looks at a track and is not familiar with where the drops would be he can see the color coding ahead of time. Should be a large number of different and wild colors to choose from. Everything on the cdj can be customizable to a certain degree which can be saved on a sd card so a dj can go to a club and load up cdj how he wants it layed out.

  8. Allow the user to jump at different cue points that are saved on the track seamlessly while the track is playing and can be quantized to stay on beat.

  9. Have 3.0 usb inputs for faster reading of the tracks and help rekordbox analyze faster since rekordbox is built in the cdj itself.

  10. Call it the cdj 2100 Nexus

Off topic, but are the platinum editions sets real chrome? Will the finish wear off easily? Will they come out with a djm 2000 platinum? Thanks!

Riddims,

  1. This feature already exists but I don't think you recognize it. Tracks with hot cues will display all *available* hot cues above the small waveform. When you call the hot cues for that track, they will also show up beneath the small waveform, indicating that they are loaded and active.

  2. Here's an even faster way: Hold down the browse knob for .5 seconds and it allows you to scroll directly to the letter you want, clicking the knob allows you to fine tune your search in that letter.
