Need a bit more info -- are your tracks processed through rekordbox? Do you have MT engaged? What is the % range and what is the % you have the tracks playing at?
Hi all,
This is my first post which I have been meaning to do since I first bought my CDJs. I have had issues since the first firmware up until my current v1.20. When mixing songs together, beat-matched accordingly, CDJs seem to be slipping and there is a constant need for adjustment. I don't quite understand why this may happen as I don't use software or sync. Could anyone shed some light on this? Does it happen to anyone else?
Cheers
J

@Joe > Any update?
Thank you so much for the replies, apologies as I have been away from my email and have not responded sooner.
All of my tracks are processed through rekordbox and are processed through Normal mode.
I have MT engaged most of the time, on specifically if I change the BPM on a certain track. Quantize is enabled also.
Range is always on plusminus 6 and not beyond. Whilst the tracks have a percentage change between (+-) 0-2% rarely exceeding (+-) 1.75. Most of the tracks I play are at the same tempo and I increase the Tempo gradually, not jumping to a high tempo
Recently I realized that loops cause a lot of difficulty even though Quantize is on. I am forever having to beatmatch every measure. Looking through some of the forums previously, there was some info into analyzing the tracks via dynamic, but that was worse off imo.
Not sure if this will be of any help but as far as your looping goes, are you making sure the beat grids are in place where they should be? I have had my 2000nxs decks for 2 weeks now and find I have to adjust a lot of beat grids when playing my tracks for the first time. Obviously once they're done they're done. Hope that helps your looping out a bit.
Regarding your loops: Darren is right, I think that when you have quantize on, and do a loop, the loop in/out point will work based on the beat grid. If you think you can do a better job (I am sure you can), you might want to turn quantize off and see how that works.
For example, if you screw up a beat grid of a track really badly on purpose, and then use the quantize feature, I think you will see that it will only be as good as your track's grid so if the grid is not dead right, the quantize is not.
If I am wrong I hope someone can correct me.
Happens to me to. Even in Sync..!!
You'll rarely see the time where you can play 2 tracks from start and they'll stay in perfect sync till finish. I have to always adjust never used the 1000mk3 or 2000's but i doubt they were perfect either.
@Darren I know what you mean about the beat grids and have had to adjust them even without slipping issues. With a few new songs where it happens recently I adjusted the beat grids but it doesn't seem to help as the whole song constantly needs adjusting.
@Walter The only issue I am having is that the whole song is out of sync it seems and that affects loops regardless if quantize is on or not.
There are significant adjustments I make to the tracks before and whilst playing anyways, but once they are in sync this slipping out is quite frustrating, I assume it doesn't happen to you guys then? It might be firmware issue, but also I thought maybe my USB devices are causing an issue?
The same with mine. Tracks needs constant adjustment to stay beatmatched...
