[CLOSED] CDJ 2000 Nexus has a e-8709 communication error!!**??!!

JESUS

I have 2 CDJ 2000 Nexus that are 11 months old and during a 3 hour set one of them went into a emergency loop. Player #1 was showing "E-8709 communication error" on its screen. I re-powered the unit, reset the unit, tried to re-flash the firmware and everything else mentioned on this forums and other places online but the unit won't do anything. This unit has never been dropped, struck hard, nothing has never fell on it, no liquid spills...nothing! This thing is mint in its own flight case. Does anyone know what is causing this error? 5 hours researching online...5 hours!

"Error code 8709 is a communication fault between the control interface (the PCB with all the switches on) and the main PCB (the motherboard in the base of the unit)"

What the hell does that mean?

Do I send this thing to Pioneer since its under 1 year warranty? Where do I send it? What now?!!

JESUS

Jesus doesn't work here, but I can help... let me check with the engineers.

Just so I'm clear, the 8709 error is showing on screen regardless of what you do?

JESUS is because I have had one problem after another including the latest version of Rekordbox. Yes, I have tried everything mentioned in these forums and other places online. This CDJ 2000 Nexus won't do anything except show this error on its screen. Have you heard about any other troubleshooting tips for this? Is there anything I can try?

First - good to know you - Jesus. We are not Jesus unfortunetelly and have to know how to help you. This is probably an software issue. What "AlmostJesus-Pulse" was trying to ask is when this error occurs. Try to describe the situation when it occurs for example:randomly playing tracks and after 3 hours it goes into the error or," i selected the track: Oh my GOD - This is your son" the error occurs" or "When i connect to PRODJJESUSLINK the error occurs" etc. Then just describe your setup and firmware versions and on which versions the error occurs or does it just started to happen when i upgraded to Windows 8.16 or Mac OSX Mad Beaver, bought new sandals to play or whatever..

^^^ LOL

@Jim > @Mateusz is correct; I need to know what steps you take to get to the problem. Does the error show on screen immediately after you power-up the CDJ or does it only happen when you load a track?

During a 3 hour set one on f my CDJ 2000 Nexus went into a emergency loop because it was showing a "E-8709 communication error". The basically brand new deck will not do anything now. It running the latest firmware I upgraded 2 weeks ago. This error happened last night during my set. No matter how many times I power it on & off it throws the error. Just to be clear, with the CDJ showing this error noting else is operational. I can't do a hard reset and it will not re-flash the firmware. The ONLY thing that lights up after powering on is the screen and the track search buttons. The screen just shows the "E-8709 communication error" and the small words "needle" is flashing. I'm in Houston, Texas and all the Guitar centers here say they have never seen or heard of this error before and there are no authorized Pioneer centers they recommend. Again, this decl I bought brand new 11 months ago and it only has about 100 hours on it and always kept in its own flight case. its never been dropped, nothing has never been dropped on it, spilled on it or anything else like this. I was just in the middle of my set playing tracks when the error occurred.

So I would like to know if anyone has any ideas on how to fix it.

Also, where do I send it back to Pioneer if needed?

What Pioneer number should I call?

Thank you!

Other people online are saying its a...

Error code 8709 is a communication fault between the control interface (the PCB with all the switches on) and the main PCB (the motherboard in the base of the unit).

It sounds like this is a communication error between the top part of the unit and the base part, but this could mean a lot of things I think... like the ribbon cable connecting the two or the actual boards themselves.

So far everything I've read online has pointed to the main PCB board as the problem but I'm leaning more towards a software problem since the unit is so new and taken care of.

Another person a similar problem on their CDJ 800 MK2 and they replaced their MAIN PCB Assembly which he replaced himself. He said to replace this part is very easy, just remove all the screws from the bottom of your CDJ since it's right under the metal sheet in the bottom of your player.

So I'm not sure if this is the same with my CDJ 2000 Nexus but its all I can really find about this error online.

Some online say the part of the problem could be associated with the CD player inside the CDJ but I have NEVER use CDs inside this CDJ 2000 Nexus.

The internet may tell you all sorts of things, but your best bet is to contact Pioneer technical support (via the links to the right side of this page) and they can direct you to a repair shop or to send it in for service. If it's under warranty, the repairs would be covered, but again - Pioneer tech support would be able to provide that information for you.
