[CLOSED] XDJ-AERO, questions

I am surprised Pioneer has done this being the fact that we were all told how much of a bad idea it was to stream RB to your cdj's via wireless :)  I am sure the AERO though was built with this in mind to make it more stable, we hope

quick question, I LOVE this idea of finally have a small all in on controller that allows me to use RB with my laptop, is it possible thast the AERO or a near future controller do exactly this but with an ethernet port so I dont HAVE to use wireless. Me personally, I am not a huge fan of doing a 4 hour party relying on a wireless connection between my macbook and the AERO, If it had an ethernet port also as a secondary option, I would buy it on the day its released so some of the clubs that don't have the 2000's, I am not forced to use serato or carry my personal 2000's there, I can just bring in this controller and play

thanks for that Wyley!!

soo if i read this all right I can export all my RB tracks to an external usb drive,, go to a party with the controller, plug in the drive and play, ALSO if I want a bigger screen to browse and search teh tracks located on the usb drive I can wirelessly connect the ipad to act as a RB screen, yet the audio is always coming from the usb drive so even if I lost wireless, no big deal, I only lose the display on the ipad

that sound right?

That's what it sounds like.  I wonder if up to four wifi devices could browse the that one drive that's hooked up to the aero?  Also it sounds like if a couple of dj's are playing on the same unit all it would take is for the next dj up to wirelessly stream one track and swap out the connected usb drive for his.

I just saw that too in the manual. This can be a nice dj kit for those who don't want to spend big for the flagship equipment. How would a rmx1000 connect to this?

between the master out of the Aero and the amp or speakers. you wouldnt be able to assign the effects from the RMX to individual channels on the aero, the RMX would be effects for the master out only

Okay, to answer questions ... there are no hotcues on the unit.

The waveform does not show up on the display of the AERO, nor on the display of the mobile device however that may change in a future update of the app as we've discussed it with the engineers who are here at the show.

I haven't heard anything about a 10,000 track limit but if you have 10,000 on 4 devices plus a USB drive, that's 50,000 songs.  And if you think you need 50,000 songs at a gig, you probably should be using something else.

You could connect an RMX-1000 via the AERO master output to the RMX's input, then the RMX's output to your speakers or computer or .......

right, but I am not a fan of the wireless connectivity to stream the music so 1 usb device plugged in only allows for 10,000 files (in owners manual). This is not a huge deal, but for mobile guys we have a lot of tracks :)

I think its funny when people gripe about track limits that high. Even mobile guys. You don't need that many tracks even as a mobile dj. If you feel you do, you probably suck at event planning. You should go into it knowing what kind of party it is. If you're playing a bar mitzvah you won't need your tejano music. If you're playing a school dance you can probably leave the golden oldies at home. Its all about event planning.

LOL,,, ok, So i do 2-4 parties every weekend (on top of my normal 9-5 weekday job) ranging from Barmitzvahs, weddings, corporate gigs, etc.... My library consists of a very organized 25,000 tracks or so from collection since I am 10 years old, so 27 years. when I grab my paperwork for the weekend and go i dont have time to divide up what music I will use for the event (other then formailty and specific requests obviously) so i keep EVERYTHING with and get into the frame of mind for that particular party, Again, I am not going to break down my cllection every week based on the event when i do so many and different types, Hard drive space is so cheap and large, no need to delete or keep tracks home, especially when I love the look on a clients face when they are happy I have an oddball song they requested at an event that (in your scenario) you would have left home, could mean the difference in another gig or tip at the end of the night.

and dont insult people by saying "you suck at plarty planning" when you dont know them, I am the top dj in one of the top mobile entertainment companies that cover Long Island, NYC, CT and NJ, the company brings in roughly 6-7 million a year in events including overall party planning, so I doubt we suck :)

sucking would be a dj who only brings the bare minimum of what he needs based on equipment restrictions and not having requests the client may want last minute throughout the night to please a guest with an upcoming event and thats why I keep ALL my music on my laptop, no need to delete and I know I can always handle requests throughout the night. Any true professional mobile dj doing the caliber of events I do will feel the same way as do the other 10 or so dj's in the company with me

Woah there captain butt-hurt. You mean to tell me that someone with your credentials couldn't pull off 4 parties with _only _10,000 tracks? I figure someone with such an impressive resume wouldn't have a problem with that at all. I've been wrong before... lol

of course I can, but why i would i want to, i could pull off a better part 15,000 tracks knowing any request could be accommodated by a client paying us a lot of money to be there.

and whats with the names, did I say anything to upset you? or are you one of those guys who are tough behind a keyboard and like to insult people?

Wow combative. Na i'm tough IRL too. I called you that name because I said one thing about people griping about track limits and you threw a novel at me. You got butt-hurt because someone said something on the INTERNET that you didn't like, then have the audacity to ask me if I'M an internet tough guy? LOL. Then you threw all these credentials out like anyone would ever care. Now you're keeping it going.

does this one have a tilt to it like the ERGO so a laptop can fit under it when you use it as a midi controller?
