Bug on CDJ-2000NXS

Hi!

I've got a bug on my CDJ-2000NXS players. After few hours of playing, my players display my folders as "Empty". I've got this bug since their purchase. The same thing as been reported by a friend on his players. I want to point out that the decks are up to date with the last firmware installed on.

Thanks.

Jon H

I've been posting about this issue since October

Every night I use the 2000 Nexus I have to take the sd card out n reboot the drive.

It's HIGHLY FRUSTRATING !!!

There is a bug

I've mentioned it numerous times before

I hadn't HD or as card or USBon a normal 2000 and it works like a dream , thenexus has a bug which looses most of my files and leaves empty folders or missing MOod

Pioneer please liston there is a fault

IM not the only Onewho has noticed this

@Jon > Can you tell us more about your setup? Do you use ProDJ link? Do you use Rekordbox to analyse your files? What media do you play from? What brand media do you use?

Two players CDJ-2000NXS used with ProDJ Link ! I use the lastest version of Rekordbox to analyse my files and I play tracks from a USB Hard Disk Drive with MP3 files.

This has no importance !!! ... Whatever model that I put in USB port (Seagate, Western Digital ...), the bug appears after few hours of playing.

And when I put these same drives on CDJ-2000 MK1 there are no bugs!

The engineers need some more information:

“my players display my folders as "Empty"”

Did you lose all the data on you USB Hard Disk Drive? Or did the player show “Empty” but are the actual files in the USB device still there?

If you power-cycle the player, is it possible to read the files?

Also, if possible, please detail what steps you may take to reproduce this error. How many tracks are in your database, what kind of file formats are they and what do you usually do that may cause this error to occur?

Hi Gavin, thank you for your reply to this

Im using an SSD hard disk, infact Ive had problems with 2 SSD hard disks , one is 128gb, the other 256gb. They are both Kingston NOW V200 - BOTH FAT 32 FORMATTED.

This error also occurs on the SD CARD either SDHC 32gb FAT 32 or the 128gb SDXC.

I use the player for about 2 - 3 hrs then have to pull the card out or remove the USB on the Hard Disk.

I used the my old 2000s last night (which are now in a venue where I work) - and I used one of the SSD 256GB, and the SD CARD in ther other. BOTH worked like a dream !! The 2000s have it spot on and ive never had this error with them - just with the NEXUS.

Your other points ...

I only lost part of the data, the folder would remain visible, but when you went into it, there was no data and would appear "Empty" - also other folders ... there would be certain files, but say from s-z missing ///// A-R would be there !! Its a baffling error.

The actual files are still on the USB OR SD card, when I re boot them after the 2 hours - all the files come back, i just loose my tag list and anything I have done before disconnected the HD. Everything is there - just the NEXUS cant view it and it appears EMPTY.

Im not sure what you mean by "power cycle" - but I remove the SD CARD OR USB and it all comes back.

I remove the disk, restarting it - wait for it to boot then crack on. This happens every night I use the Nexus's - on both units. they are Pro Linked. I have about 15000 tracks and again - NO PROBLEMS WITH THE CDJ2000 - which I purchased in 2009.

All my MP3s are 192 + CBR and are checked - the 2000 mk1 has no issue reading them !

The error just appears - out of the blue, folders just appear empty - so I have to restart the SD CARD OR USB HD

My problem is exactly the same as DJccccc ... the bug appears just after few hours of playing ! Some folders become empty and I have to restart the players or eject USB drive and reconnect it ! Then, all my MP3 files come back in folders ! So, they are not "physically" deleted from my hard disk drive. But this bug doesn't exist on my CDJ-2000 MK1 that recognize all my MP3 files all night !! =)

@DJccccc and @Jon H > Some feedback from the engineers:

The engineers tried many many times to reproduce the issue Dccccc and Jon H experienced.

However, they have not been successful in replicating the problems so far.

They need more specific information on how to reproduce this issue.

How hard the engineers tried, it would be very difficult to reproduce the same issue with only limited information.

Video or file data itself could be a great help for engineers to analyze the problem.

Dccccc said he did not use rekordbox with CDJ-2000nexus.

How about trying to use rekordbox and let the engineers know how it works or not.

Please let Dccccc and Jon H know that the engineers are trying very hard to solve this issue.

My HDD are not analyzed with Rekordbox, but those of my friends are ! But they also have the same problem that me.

That's very strange, it's the fact that the same HDD don't show this error on CDJ-2000 MK1.

It's very difficult to make a video because the problem appears after few hours of playing !

Just read your response to this Gavin, thank you for updating.

Just to confirm, I had this problem again tonight, it happens every night I use my NXS

I echo entirely what Jon H has typed, I have exactly the same issue, files disappear after 2 hrs.

And I also agree - I use the same SD Card or USB hard disk on the clubs 2000s MK1 - they are perfect. No probs - just this silly bug on the NXS has making my DJ Nights so much harder.

Please ask your engineers to keep searching - I will try and do a video aswell, though it will be hard to capture the error.

Guys does this happen on both decks? Reason i ask is I notice on the main deck when I go into playlists it doesn't sort properly like it should holding the last setting yet the LINKed deck works perfect. So something it definitely going on with the menu and playlists. Maybe it's cause they added animation between the menu's so its trying to animate and load playlists at the same time. I wish they would loose the damn animation, all it does is slow us down

Hi Bri - yes it does happen on both decks.

I did a gig last night, used the USB for 2 hrs then it "crashed" and I had the missing files in folder bug

I switched to my SD card - then after 2 hrs had the "missing files" Bug on that

I then unplugged my USB HD, rebooted it - and reused that for the final hour.

Extremely frustrating !!!!

Ive complained about this bug since I brought these players in September.

I was told it was my HD - but as other have commented they are having issues - Im not alone. Thank you for atleased aknowleging and searching for the issue Pioneer, but it does REALLY annoy me that I loose my Tag list by having to reboot. Ive got used to it - but why does do my HD work perfectly on the old CDJ2000S - Why is it a bug on the Nexus !! Please keep trying to find this fault Pio.
