XDJ-RX TRIM gain issues

Hey all, I've been going through the forums to look for a similar issue but i can't seem to find it.

The issue I have is I need to turn the TRIM knob all the way to roughly 3PM for the level meter to reach the red zone.

The level will remain at 9 when the TRIM knob is in between 12PM-3PM and that's frustrating when recording mixes.I have another friend who's facing the same issue.

I've attached a few videos I recorded below. Pay attention to the Level meter and the TRIM knob

I've watched the videos and I would say this is more a case of misunderstanding on usage. First of all, your levels are too high. You should be aiming for the 0dB level (last green) or possibly the first orange simply for visual reference.

Second, the difference between the last orange and first red is a significant level gain, and you should NOT be aiming to be "in the red." Yes, there is enough overhead to not clip the signal if the output is configured properly, but you still should not be trying to get the levels to the red. Audio engineers and experienced DJs will tell you that the best sound quality is never in the red.

how high is your master level turned up?

why would you want to go into the red anyway?

Master is set at 1PM. But the master level doesn't have any affect on the channel levels anyway.

It's annoying because turning the TRIM knob in between 12PM-3PM will actually result in level changes(based on hearing) however on the level indicator it only shows that its at 9.

I don't want it to go into red but id like to keep both tracks at the same level and its hard to do so with whats going on at the moment.

Hope i don't sound confusing.

So it's not sounding the way you want until you turn the trim to between 1pm-3pm, is that the main concern her?  Sorry if I am not getting it, but I don't think I am getting it here...

@Pulse, I'm not aiming for the Reds I'm just doing it to show that I need to twist the Trim knob to around 2-3pm for it to turn red. On my friends xdj it goes to the red zone 12-1pm.

the problem is now theres too much room in between the number "9" and "over" on the level indicator. Anyways I'm just checking if there's any solution to this because it's definitely meant to be this way.

@djjay my concern is I can tell there's quite a volume increase in between 12 and 3 pm but on the level indicator it remains on level 9 all the way from 12pm to 3pm then it turns red. It used to be like level 8 on 11pm then level 9 at 12pm and red at roughly 1pm. Which means the level indicator is inaccurate at the moment. I use it as quick reference at times
