At this point, unless I have any questions regarding the specifics of anyone's setup, there's not much else that can be contributed from the users regarding a resolution; the XDJ product team is investigating and will be in contact with their counterparts at Serato if necessary to determine the cause and solution to this issue.
Your patience is appreciated!
Feel free to ask anything!
Man this is getting ridiculous tonight I looked like a real idiot when it kept going back to the first cue point all night it happened to me 4 times tonight and everyone looked at me like I didn't know what I was doing I'm done with this shit I'm thinking of trading everything in for the Denon Mcx8000 this is some ridiculous bull...
@Gus > I'm sorry to hear that, perhaps in the meantime a workaround would be to create a duplicate Serato library and remove your hot cues. I know this is not an ideal solution, but it would prevent the bug from occurring. I've been told that Pioneer DJ engineers and the Serato team are working to determine the cause of this glitch.
I don't know what I'm going to do but it has gotten worst in the last couple of weeks... And it's almost unplayable now... Its a shame cause I love the S9 and the 1000's but I might have to give em up and get something else.
@Gus > I understand your frustration but I don't have any update for you at this time, as mentioned our engineers are looking into the issue in conjunction with Serato.
Any update on this Pulse?...I have a gig on Saturday and need to figure what I'm going to do about playing Saturday... Thanks!
@Gus > 3 days is barely enough time for either team to start looking into the issue, let alone solving it.
I posted a work-around above, I understand that this might not be your ideal choice to get through the gig without an issue, but unfortunately I don't have any other option or recommendation available for you at this time.
@Gus I tested it and it worked successfully:
- download Serato Control CD in ZIP file https://serato.com/controlcd/downloads
- extract and put that two files on a USB stick via rekordbox or simply with mac finder or windows explorer (better use rekordbox)
- don't connect your XDJ via USB cable to Mac or PC (safety first :D)
- disable 'Master Tempo' on XDJs
- use Serato DJ with DVS (https://serato.com/dj/expansion-packs-content/dvs)
This is really not ideal, a lot of XDJ HID features you know won't work, but eliminate this bug and you can use DJM-S9 with XDJ at the moment.
Djtomminger so I'm I loading the content of the USB stick to the XDJ like I would the firmware?
@djtomminger > Thanks for that other option as a work-around, but I should point out it is only good for a user who has the DJM-S9 (which comes with DVS support), or the DVS pack and compatible hardware.
@Gus > No - you would put the "control CD" audio file onto your USB drive and play it as if you were playing an MP3 from the USB directly on the XDJ. The audio from the XDJ then goes into the DJM and that control tone tells Serato what to do in terms of playback. As noted, you would lose ALL HID functionality, and you certainly want to make sure Master Tempo is off on the XDJ (you can enable it within the software if desired).
If you're in ABS mode, you could still loop, but not in REL mode.
The reason this is a viable work-around is that your XDJ is not operating as an HID device, but rather as a "CDJ" type player, simply sending timecode to the software.
@pulse thanks for the explanation I would try it myself but I don't get back home til tonight... As far as the HID controls are concern will the jogs, pitch fader and pitch bend work?
@Gus > Yes, your standard functions will still work:
- play
- scratching
- pitch bend
- pitch fader
The following will only work in absolute mode:
- looping, although if you have the S9, better to use that to set it
- touch-strip
- fast-fwd/rev
So I gave this a shot and it's a horrible experience definitely can't use this at my gig tomorrow this really sucks I might have to go purchase a different system... Very dissatisfied with this whole situation
@Gus > I sympathize with your situation however this is not an intended function which we have the ability to change quickly, our teams are working to find the root cause of the problem and unfortunately it takes time.
Hi guys,
Just to let you know I also have this issue and I am using the following ...
Rane Sixty Four
2xXDJ1000's in HID mode
Windows 7 HP x64 [also tried Windows 10 x64 and exactly same issue]
Have now tried 3 different pcs ..
4ghz990x cpu/12gDDR3/Rampage 3 Extreme/Geforce 690GTX
3.5ghz G2020 cpu&gpu/8GB DDR3/Intel mobo
3ghz 6800cpu/4gbDDR2/Geforce 580GTX
The issue is exactly the same on all the rigs. I have also tried all the rigs with and without a mains powered USB3 hub and no effect, issue is the same.
I also have spent about 3 weeks talking to Serato Tech support, the technician tried to reproduce the issue with my same Mixer/Decks setup and various pc rigs and couldnt reproduce the issue even once?!
I actually have 2 pioneer plx1000s that I use for dvs scratching so I can use that mode as a workaround but personally I like to mix with the XDJ's and scratch on the vinyl/dvs and until this issue is sorted out I have 2 xdj1000's sat there being expensive paper weights..not happy to say the least!
EDIT: I should also say that it jumps to the start of the track whether there are any que points or not and always jumps to the start a few seconds into the track, never at the exact start. It even does it if you leave the xdjs paused in hid mode..jumps back to start a few seconds in and like others have said it sometimes doesnt do it for an hour or 2 then other times within 60 seconds of loading a track.
@Justin > Thanks for that additional information about it jumping to the start of the track. I'm sure most of us have a hot cue set at the first beat of the song, with almost zero blank audio before that point, which is why it seems that's where the jump occurs TO.
I've spoken with Serato's support team, and they've asked if users could provide the session logs straight after the session when it happen. You just need to go to Music > _Serato_ > Logs and get the last log file.
|
Even if you forget straight after, you should be able to go back and get it as the last 10 sessions are stored and they're all time-stamped. If you can copy/paste the session log here, that would be appreciated for us to get the additional information over to Serato. |
@Pulse No that is not what is occurring, for me at least. The 'jump' has just happened and, as I thought, it does not jump to either the actual start of the track or the 'auto' cue point at the first beat. It does infact jump, like I said previously, several seconds into the track itself. The jump is usually about 5 seconds into the track, after the auto cue on first beat although it has very rarely even jumped to around 30 secs into the track, but 90% of the time its only a few seconds in after the auto cue.
I will find the logs you have requested and post them here shortly.
Here is the most recent of my Serato logs. The most recent occurence of the issue happened after about 2hrs of mixing. The log is hundreds of lines long so I apolagize for the spam in advance lol ...
Yikes, I didn't realize they'd be that long! lol
Maybe email them to me as an attachment instead - <<myusername>>@dj<<myusername>>dot-ca
Also, if you know roughly when it happened, it may help find that needle in the pile of needles! ;)
ROFL ..I did wonder if you knew how big they'd be once I'd seen their enormity!
As far as locating the 'needle' all I can say is that the log ill email to you would be the log where the issue occurred and it would be right at the end of the session. I turned Serato off just after the issue occurred so presumably somewhere around the bottom of the log page. Ill email you the log now..
Im guessing that the more logs of the issue occurence that Serato & Pioneer receive the more likely and promptly this should get sorted, so if you havnt already please send your logs to Pulse as Im not sure how much use just my log will be on its own, thx. [I really hope people havnt just abandoned or replaced their XDJ1000's instead of trying to help sort this out, the last response on this thread from an earlier poster is now over 4 days ago.]
@Justin > Got it, thanks. Yes, indicating roughly when it occurred will help narrow the focus, even if you continued playing for 2 hours after the glitch.
I've already had upload my logs to serrate directly.
Sometimes I get updates from Serato about the issue. They are working hard on the issue and planned to release a particular fix with the next Serato DJ version. This could may fix our problems, but they can't guarantee that this really solved the problem completely.
Well thats something at least. The last email with the Serato technician I got was basically saying 'I give up'. He couldnt reproduce the fault atall and even more bizarrely he didnt once ask for my Serato logs [wtf?!].
Hi folks,
I received a new message from Serato support. They may fixed our problem in upcoming 1.9.2. So they are invited us to test the fix if it working correctly and report it in there forum if not.
Here you can download the 1.9.2 public beta: https://serato.com/forum/area/704
Release notes:
- ...
- Instant Start causing tracks to start from beginning with Pioneer Mixers
- ...
Regards, Thomas
@Thomas > It may be that fix is separate from the XDJ issue, but we are still gathering log files from users if this happens, so please send them to me!
