El Capitan and the DDJ-SZ

Hi guys, I've got a 2011 MBP and DDJ-SZ.
Since I've had El Capitan the SZ doesn't work as an external audio device.
It shows up in midi, but not audio.
I've gone through weeks of support with Serato, but hey suggest there is a compatibility issue with El Capitan?
I see you are working in 64bit drivers, are you working on El Capitan supported drivers also?

Wow. Because Serato doesn't work on my Mac when running El Capitan. I had to downgrade to Yosemite. Also on serato website it states Serato does not work with that version of OSX. You are lucky. Native instruments and Pcdj are the only ones that broke the delimia

I do not work for pioneer or any vendor. It really sucks that your new system came with an OSX that is not compatible with the applications that you intend to run. That is very bad. Even though Apple may provide data to the vendors before release doesn't mean that the vendors can implement in a reasonable time. After all let's look at Rane and Serato. Maybe Apple Technical Support can assist you in putting Yosemite on your new machines so you can use their OSX products. Just a suggestion to get you up and running instead of waiting for a solution that may never come.

I have a ddj-sz and El Capitan broke my Serato. I do not make money off of Apple OSX. I am a dj and make my money using Serato Dj. If the new OSX doesn't support my workflow I went with the version that makes me money. The new OSX suppose to increase workflow not hender it. We could blame Rane, Serato, or Pioneer DJ but that doesn't increase your workflow.

Just another note. A friend of mines and winner of the 2011 dj award told me he is still using two versions before Yosemite. Upgrades are no good if you can't use them or don't need them. Jtorcher.com aka Midwestern Assasin

Well yesterday was the day. The day I finally (literally) dusted off my DDJ-SZ and it got some use. It was rented to a club who needed one for a DJ, who used it for Traktor with his Windows laptop.
I however haven't DJd in three months due to being on the beta of OSX, and whilst I know it's all my problem, FUCKING FIX THE DRIVERS ALREADY!!!! This is beyond belief that current models are not compatible. I'm so disappointed in pioneer DJ, and I've been a DJM user for many many years. For the love of god sort it out! And me too with the trial version of rekordbox DJ. It has expired, not that I'd give it a look anyway after the way this whole scenario has panned out.
People ask if they can come round and have a mix, or ask me when my new mixtape is out, or when I'm finishing a new track? I have no answer for them, as you do for us.
Sort it out, you're annoying a lot of people right now, and from what I know it's also the SX customers too, and probably more.
El Capitan was released on September 30th, it's now the 4th November. Sort it out

Just found out that my RZ is working with El Capitan with a litte Workaround.
1: Update to El Capitan
2: Restart Mac and press CMD + "R" while booting
3: Go into Terminal and Type: "csrutil disable"
4: Restart your Mac
5: Re-install your audio driver ( As far as I know, its works with SZ, RZ, but try with other ones i really think it would work too)!

It would be irresponsible of me not to address the rootless work-around that @Desmond has posted...

You are certainly welcome to try it, but your mileage may vary and by disabling the System Integrity Protection, you are putting your operating system at risk of infection/damage due to malware or other harmful software. A quick Googling of the instructions will yield many websites all offering the same advice:

"We do not recommend this unless you really know what you’re doing."

"SIP has been instituted in El Capitan for a reason — to improve OS X security, and reduce the risk of anyone who isn't supposed to from getting to your data. But as in all things, your mileage may vary. Just be careful!"

"The vast majority of Mac users should leave rootless enabled and embrace System Integrity Protection, as most OS X users have no business in the system level directories anyway."

Ok @Pulse. I can see you've copped a lot of flack.

As far as information goes, should I reinstall my operating system down to Yosemite, or is it worth waiting. For example, I'd hate to do that and spend so much time, and then the next day, or a week the driver come out.

We just need a time frame. Is it likely to be under a month, Christmas, what's the go?

@Ali > I really wish I had an answer with some approximate time, but unfortunately I've got nothing and am waiting, just like you guys, to get the information. As soon as I hear a peep on a release date, you better believe it will be all over the forum.

@Ali Holden: Nice for you that you can do that. I also would like to go back. But i talked with Apple and they recommend not to go back to the old OS X. My 2 new Gears iMac 5K and MacBookPro Retina came both with El Capitan and they said only perhaps the Notebook could be backward compatible. So for me is really frustrating .... i can`t to anything....

@Cristiano yeah my MBP is a 2011 so no issues, but I didn't make a backup so it'll be noe plain sailing!

I understand your frustration, but this is the unfortunate reality of the situation and we're all waiting. The engineers know this is an update of critical importance and they're not just sitting idly-by waiting for something to change on Apple's end, they are working hard to ensure that all of their products get updates. Some computers may not be able to roll-back or downgrade, and certainly any DJ who purchases a new computer has El Cap already loaded on it, and downgrading seems a bit backwards (if possible at all).

We all hope the update is available soon.

NI has a complete resolution for all the OSX 10.11 issues as of today. Pioneer you're a bigger company with more resources and all we're getting is lip service from rude forum mods.

Now that DDJ-SZ drivers are out, YAY, Pulse, can you please help us get a new 30-day trial of RekordBox DJ or, better, GIVE us a license for it (given the hassle of no drivers for 6 weeks. =)

I am yet to check this out, but a reset trial would be appreciated once the drivers are confirmed to work.
