ddj rz & ddj sz

Hello!

Currently own an sz, and am happy to hear about the new expansion packs for rekordbox dj. Few questions.

1: will pretty much all the features of rekorbox dj work on the sz? Which features will not work?

2: is the footprint of the new rz, the same as the sz? If I upgrade, I hoping it fits in the sam coffin I have now. Thanks!

Dimensions...

DDJ-SZ: 870mm x 420mm x 98mm
DDJ-RZ: 870mm x 420mm x 98mm

Exactly the same. ;)

Do the DDJ RZ or DDJ RX support Rekordbox or just Rekordbox DJ. Furthermore do the Serato controllers support Rekordbox or just Rekordbox DJ as well?

Lastly do you know if any of the DJM series mixers will support Rekordbox DJ?

@Dave > The DDJ-RZ and DDJ-RX will only function with rekordbox DJ as they do not have USB ports to operate as stand-alone units like the XDJ-RX.

The full line of DDJ-S* controllers are supported under rekordbox DJ, DJMs have not been introduced to the lineup as they have no function for controlling the software players.

Thanks Pulse. One more if I may................ would there be any advantages to me using DJM mixers with CDJ's running RBDJ over say an A&H or Rane Mixer running the same?

BTW RBDJ has got me all sorts of excited. Whenever something new comes out that requires me to spend VERY little money (relatively speaking) it brings a massive smile to my face!!

No problem. ;)

Yes and no ... there are some link functions which are of advantage when using a DJM, for example, the preview cueing (to audition a track without loading it to a player), quantized effects and on-air features.

But beyond that, in terms of technical ability to do with rekordbox, no, the DJM line doesn't have any specific functions for the rekordbox DJ software. That's not to say it won't change in the future, but you would be able to DJ using rekordbox DJ with a pair of players (or controller) and a non-Pioneer brand mixer.

OK and to finalize the "on air" features apply to Rekordbox and not Rekordbox DJ correct? That is all from me for now. Thanks once again.

@Dave > Those are actually between the players and the mixer - nothing specific to rekordbox there (as rekordbox is simply the source for the audio to the player). It would be the same for either rekordbox OR rekordbox DJ.

There are some differences between the two units but I can't disclose much of the detailed technical information.

The gold SZ was a limited edition, you may have a hard time locating one but there may still be some dealers who have one in stock.
