@SlouchRock > What is the latency setting within the software and what is your computer's make/model/specs?

2nd open box purchased unit exchanged because of Jog Wheel performance. Not really sensitivity I'm stuggling with but the jog wheel has no ability to stay in sync with your movement. the song just wanders further away from where your fingers touch for a scratch or makes it sound really shaky if I slow down the scratch. Could I have received another defective unit or could it be my computer or does any body else experience this problem? I have tried adjusting the jog wheel sensitivity up and down.according to the manual.

hi, it's a Macbook pro with 10.8.5 OS. 2.2GHz Intel processor, 4GB Ram. Software is Serato DJ version 1.7.7. How do I find what my firmware is?
Latency was set to the middle
@SlouchRock > While your computer meets the specs for the software, it's possible (although unlikely) that it plays a part in the performance.
The SX2 itself does have the adjustment for jog response and does require changes based on things like your body's capacitance and whether the environment is staticky, but it's entirely possible that the jog is defective. Does it do it with both sides equally?
The current firmware is 1.05 (instructions and update files can be found here), if you're not already running 1.05 please give that a test -- and also update to Serato DJ 1.7.8 which is the current version.
Thanks Pulse, so firmware is something on the computer? can you tell me how I check to see which firmware I'm running? I'm definately aware of the jog response adjustment. Will try comparing sides.
Firmware is on the DDJ-SX2 itself; instructions on checking the version are on the link in my last post.
Hello quick update, I'm now on my 3rd replacement bran new never opened. the jog wheel sensitivity is still bad. even adjusted all the way up I can't even stop a song without it crawling away, it improves slightly if I lay a second hand somewhere else on the unit but I can barely even stop a song to save a Que point. Software and firmware are up to date.
Just a question ... have you ever been able to find an SX2 that met your performance expectations? It could simply be that you're wanting the performance to be something it's not capable of.
I'm not trying to make excuses for the unit(s), it could well be that the shop has had a bad batch, but I'm just trying to determine if that's the case or if there's something else.
Not really, if I place 3 fingers on the jog wheel and hold still I don't think the song should keep stuttering forward. Is there something in my computer specs that could limit the capabilities of the controller? Or could the USB buffer size setting play a role?
No, it certainly sounds more like an issue of sensitivity (or perhaps you're just not providing enough capacitance?). Do you have any issues using other touch-interface devices?
Makes sense, I was saying before that it changes when I touch the controller with the other hand. I'll try to barrow a buddies Vestax VCI and report back..
its a grounding issue.. in my case it was my active speakers not sure what your using.. make sure you have all your sound equipment plugged in to the same receptacle. get a power bar and split of that.. this way you have a proper grounding loop
touch the controller with one hand and move the jog wheel ..if it works its the grounding issue ... READ Above post
