DDJ SX2 jog wheel 4 midi issue

Im trying to connect the ddj to specifix software.

Now I notice a strange thing;
When I move the touch platen on deck 1, midi sends;
- ch1 Note 54 value 127
- ch1 CC 34 (changes)
- ch1 Note 54 value 0

When I move the touch platen on deck 2, midi sends;
- ch2 Note 54 value 127
- ch2 CC 34 (changes)
- ch2 Note 54 value 0

When I move the touch platen on deck 3, midi sends;
- ch3 Note 54 value 127
- ch3 CC 34 (changes)
- ch3 Note 54 value 0

However, when I touch deck 4

midi only sends; ch4 CC 34

The pre- and post changes below are never executed;
ch4 Note 54 value 127
ch4 Note 54 value 0

  • Not using Serato, just using the SX2 in midi mode.
  • Running latest firmware 1.05 on the sx2.
  • its not a driver issue cause i did not use one (it even shows on the ipad like this)
  • Its not the platen cause deck platen 2 works without an problem.

Anyone got an idea?

@Bob > Do you possibly have deck 4's jog mode set to CDJ mode (not vinyl mode)?

Note 54 is the jog signal for "touching" (val 127) and "not touching" (val 0). CC34 is the change in movement. The software interprets it as "If Note 54 = 127 and there is a change on CC34, it is scratching / vinyl movement" or "If Note 54 = 0 and there is a change on CC34, it is a pitch bend."

Check that first.

correct, and on deck 4 in midi mode the ddj SX2 never sends touch "ch4-54 127" and release touch "ch4-54 0" .

I understand -- but is the deck in CDJ or VINYL mode? Press SHIFT + SLIP to switch jog modes.

Sorry, I don't understand that comment, did that resolve your issue? Just so you're clear in my comments ... the jog itself has two modes - VINYL mode and CDJ mode. In VINYL mode the top of the jogwheel (the touch-sensitive part) is active and sends the NOTE 54 data, the rotational information is sent over CC34. When in CDJ mode, the jog is ONLY sending CC34 as the top is disabled.

The switching between VINYL and CDJ mode is not dependant on the software; it is a switch in modes for the hardware itself.
