massive CPU problems !!!!

i have massive CPU problems with rekordbox DJ!
my system is a MacbookPro 24 "Retina, 2.3GHz Intel Core i7
16GB RAM
Rekordbox burdens the CPU with min 60%, which increases to 100% !! partially
Tractor comes just 35% -38% in the test run
I urgently need a solution

Hi everyone, I want to provide you with some info about my system and the rekordbox CPU issue. Maybe it helps others or even the Pioneer engineers.

The System is a 17" MacBook Pro Early 2011:

Idle CPU consumption (DDJ-RZ connected):

One track playing, no mixing, no effects, no DDJ-RZ operation (jogs, etc.):

Here comes somthing really bad: Using the DDJ-RZ knob for scrolling in a tracklist consumes > 220% of CPU (2 CPU cores are presumably not enough to handle this operation!):

Last but not least: Memory consumption:

Even though my 17" Laptop has a big enclosing getting rid of the heat a bit more easily than a 15" or 13" Laptop - it's fan blows a lot and it's getting really hot.

Furthermore: Yesterday I prepared a tracklist without power supply using EXPORT mode only. Laptop still hot, battery down after 2 hours (thats quick since battery was exchanged recently). At 10% battery I plugged the AC, switched to PERFORMANCE mode and started to DJ. The battery did not recuperate due to the fact that rekordbox seem to consume that much battery so charging did not proceed for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes I was left with 9% battery. This is really bad if you prepare a gig and want to play right after ...

Finally a cool bug: If you resize the rekordbox window extensively for a few seconds while playing a track, CPU rises > 220%, while master volume suddenly turns entirely off. No signal, no sound. It does not recuperate when you stop resizing the rekordbox window. It simply stops giving a signal at master output but the track continues to play and the channel (!) LED (DDJ-RZ) shows some signal. The master (!) LEDs at DDJ-RZ are off (no signal). This behaviour is not recuperating! DDJ-RZ and rekordbox needs a restart!!! Rekordbox seems to have a severe UI rendering problem that consumes a lot of CPU (i.e. when you resize the main window or when scrolling in your track collection). It makes the program (or driver) to stop working correctly:

As some people state here: I would be happy if Pioneer opens the DDJ-RZ System for other DJing software (like Traktor and Serato). You can tell that they build the best hardware but really have to improve software-wise when it comes to real-time-processing using cross-platform technologies (PC, MAC). I really love the device but the software does unfortunately not come with the same state of professionalism as the Pioneer hardware - or as most of the competitors software.

Thanks to my vendor I still have the option to return or exchange my unit for a DDJ-SZ (which officially supports Serato, Traktor AND rekordbox) and I finally might go for this option...

Hope this helps or gives some additional info!

Indeed - I'd have liked to see a quality improvement regarding CPU usage and performance using the performance mode! Hopefully things change soon for the rekordbox community!

well i started having problem with the most recent update. it seems like pioneer is ignoring the issue for over 2 weeks, but clearly it has been going on much longer for some users.

maybe if we all post videos they will start to address the problems.

I'm having high CPU spikes when RB is in normal mode

On my Windows 7 laptop with 8G of memory, RB is using over 1G of CPU and isn't doing anything, just sitting there open.

If I restart RB, it goes down to 600 - 700 K

I have same problem! DDJ-RZ, Macbook Pro Retina 13, 2.4 i5, 8gb more than 170% CPU usage in performance mode with 4 tracks loaded and not played. If i start tracks... noise, non synced and total lag UI. I use this mac only for djiing. No hidden software, no firewall, no demons or something like that. Library in internal SSD.

You use i386 architecture in 2016 year! I`m shocked! I dont know what framework we use, but for professional software is it bullshit. Native application for mac and win many times more stable and not to much expensive. I know more than nothing about that, my company develop and support software for iOS, Android and Windows with native code for each. Now that lock worse fcukin Tracktor or Serato inside. UI is nice... but unstable.

Guys, i spend $2,5k usd for new controller and cant use it. Please do something with that! Pioneer made better hardware! That software is fail! If you cant fix it fast, just open interface for maping another apps.

Sorry for long emotional read. I`m frustrated... 4 weeks with new toy without joy.

so lame that we cannot get a straight answer regarding making 4.0.8 archive available

this is v4.1 on my only laptop...

https://youtu.be/_Ymhu384_Vk

giving us bullshit answers here pulse? hoping we chase our own tails? probably never find a problem at all either because none of that explains why pioneer dj broke the software. here is v3.3, the only stable version i could find online, on the same laptop with the same tracks...

https://youtu.be/xts-5dL263w

v4.0.8 ran just as well as v3.3

I'm Canadian, so you only get Grade A bull-moose sh!t around here!

...and no consideration for the fact that version 4 does SO MUCH more than version 3 does, with 4.1 also adding additional features over and above 4.0.8...?

yet, none of those features were needed for a xdj-rx user like myself

now will you please just run it up the flagpole that there are many users learning about these issues and that attempts to blame it on the user fell flat.

just last week, i had a dj friend with an ddj-sx2 suffering from serato problems saying he was thinking about switching to rekordbox and i urged him to try traktor first, but i have never even tried traktor pulse and this is a man that i have known for 19 years sir. i would entrust him with the lives of my own children and he expects me to give him my honest thoughts and opinions on everything.

[edit] the snarky attitude fell flat too

even if you just uploaded it to zippyshare and quietly created a new account with an "omg guys here it is!!" post would be awesome. help a dj out instead of reading all these angry posts and ignoring them, feeling like you cannot help us.

@Bud > None? So the full HID support for the XDJ-RX added in 4.0.8 wasn't for you?

Nobody's ignoring you, and I'm not being difficult when I tell you that the rekordbox software team is working on it.

I run a variety of different controllers, hardware players and mixers in testing here on 3 different computers (iMac, MacBook Pro, and Windows desktop) and I don't have near the problems most of you are complaining about in this thread. There is a certain amount of responsibility (not BLAME) on behalf of the user to ensure their computer is optimized. That Windows machine of mine? It's about 6 years old. It's got a Pentium Core2 Quad processor and 4GB RAM running Windows 10. Is my CPU usage high sometimes? Yep, but does the software continue working? Absolutely. I've made adjustments to settings, disabled background tasks and removed unnecessary applications and everything works. Do I blame rekordbox or try and compare the CPU usage to Serato, Traktor or VirtualDJ? No, because those are different applications. I would be no better off comparing it to Photoshop or Excel for that matter.

There is nothing I can do to help you if you're not willing to listen to the advice that's already been provided (and not down-voting it), or when I say that your complaints have already been passed along.

As nothing positive or beneficial is coming from this topic, consider it closed.
