Rekordbox sync issues

Hi guys,

I'm having a problem everytime I add new tracks to my collection. Basically this is what I do when I add files.

1. Run the tracks through MIK.

2. Load Latest Rekordbox version.

3. Using the explorer within RB, right click on the new tracks and import to collection.

4. Set cue points, adjust grid to line up with beats if required. Add to required playlist.

5. Right click on the track and export to USB.

6. Then, using the sync manager, sync the new playlist with the new tracks in.

I'm assuming there is nothing wrong there. Then I take the usb to my XDJ-RX (running latest firmware), load up one of the new tracks onto 1 deck, and an older track onto the other.

Sync both decks. Play them, low and behold, they are not in sync.

I just added 9 tracks to my USB using the above method, and 6 were not in sync with the older tracks, (which are able to play in sync with the other 250 tracks).

To get round the ones that aren't in sync, I then have to delete the "un synced" tracks from the usb (within rb), then create a new encode of the un-synced tracks, delete the originals from the folder to the recycle bin, then copy the new encoded tracks into the folder.

Once Ive done this, if I drag one of the new encodes to the player within rb, the grid is out of align with my cue points.(ive already pointed the software to the new encoded). So I realign the grid and move the cue points, re-export to the USB and re-sync the playlists, take it to my XDJ and now, they are in sync.

Why do I need to have to do this?

Why doesnt it notice that the grid isn't inline with the waveform in the first place. It's a right pain and a lot of work importing new tracks.

@Martin > You're exporting twice.  You don't need to do that.  You can skip step 5.  Exporting the playlist will also export all the tracks within that playlist.

Thanks Mark.

Could the double exporting of tracks create the issue I'm seeing? I'm trying to find the cause.

Hi Mark.

I seem to have found the cause of this issue, and I can't understand why it is.

Basically, if I follow the above steps, 1 to 4, then add them to playlists, then use sync manager they transfer perfectly.

Howvere, the issue occurs when, after steps 1 to 4, I add to playlist, THEN SORT THE PLAYLIST BY KEY FOR EXAMPLE, then export, I get the problem where some of the tracks aren't in sync.

So, if I add to playlists without sorting, it's fine, but if I add to playlists the sort by key etc, I get the issue.

NO IDEA WHY.

When I use the sync button on the xdj controller, the beats are not aligned properly. Not in sync pal.

This does not make any sense.  The Sync feature uses the beat grid information.  Sorting the playlist by key does not change the beat grid information.  You DO NOT need to sort by key before exporting.  You can sort by key, or almost any other tag field, directly on the XDJ-RX itself as long as you assign those fields within rekordbox before exporting.

  1. Insert your drive.
  2. Select it within rekordbox.
  3. Add your preferred sort options and remove the undesired options. You can even move them up/down according to your preference.

See image below.

I am also experiencing this issue. Anytime I sync two songs on the XDJ-RX They will start off aligned, but over time they will drift apart even though the sync button is on. Seem like sync does not fully align the tracks for me no matter what I do. Im using the updated firmware as well

Same issues for me and XDJ-RX, sometimes it's worse the beat grids move one beat up or down alone.

see my video :

Why in the XDJ-RX beat grids move all the times compare to rekordbox!

I think the firmware (2.10) needs a lot of works!

@aurelien > Never mind that, notice the time skip? I think there's a problem with the audio file, not the beat grid.

Try running that song through a scan / repair tool (like MP3val on PC or MP3 Scan & Repair on Mac) and see if the file itself is damaged.

@LEBON > Are the beat grids on each track accurate and created in the appropriate method (normal vs. dynamic)? Are you using hardware? There's lots of questions but not enough information provided to assist. Please post to a new topic for your own issue and we'll be happy to assist you.
