XDJ R1 E-8709 ?

Hello,

i got my R1 over a year ago and we get a one year warranty, it is my backup controller for private events as i play in bars and clubs often so i dont really use the R1 at home (probably less than 20 times since oct 2014) . so i booted it a few days ago and it said e8709 and i brought it to pioneer service center and they told me they will check it out but chances are youll have to replace the entire thing. my warranty is no longer valid.

 

So i would like to know whether this is a factory defect or something i did? (but id disagree because it hasnt been used much/hasnt even moved the same spot)

This error is an internal communications error.  You can try to update the firmware.  If this does not work, you will have to have the unit repaired.

Brought it to the service center and they wanted to repair it for half the retail price of the unit? Ridiculous! Saying that they need to replace the motherboard and PSU. I cannot update the firmware because I cannot even boot the damn thing pass the error code. It literally just turns on and shows the error code. I am not convinced that I need to drop on half the retail price to get it working because it powers up. Is there anything I can do at all? Does anyone know a technical support email contact? Other than the one I went to (malaysia)
