The Big Wave Forms on the display are not showing.

Hello,

I have the XDJ-RX and the Big Wave Forms on the display are not showing, just a blank screen.  I just unboxed the unit a couople of days ago and I tried the settings but I don't see anything.  Any ideas?

Thank you

@Taki > Congrats on the purchase of the XDJ-RX! Are you using the unit with rekordbox in performance mode or with a USB drive? If the latter, have you prepared your music in rekordbox to export it to a USB drive or did you just copy the music over using the Finder / Explorer?

Hi,

I have Rekordbox on my Macbook, I exported the playlist to the USB drive and used it in the XDJ-RX.  Everything is working except for the Center Large Wave Form is not.  I can see the little wave forms at the bottom but a blank screen in the middle???

Thank you and also another quick question - Can I export to an external hard drive or just on memory sticks?

I have just one track which doesn't show a waveform. It is fine in rekordbox. I have converted the file to WAV, removed tags, converted it to MP3. None of these things fix it. But every other music file I have shows the waveform. Weird.

@Taki > You can use either; any USB source provided it's FAT32 or HFS+ (with Master Boot Record) will work.

Does the large waveform not show for ANY files exported from rekordbox? Which firmware version is on the RX?

@Bryan > It doesn't show even after conversion and re-importing it to rekordbox / exporting again to USB?

I convert the track from MP3 to WAV in Sound Forge. Then remove the MP3 file from rekordbox and import the WAV file. It looks fine in rekordbox. Sync my usb stick and put it in the RX. The XDJ-RX shows the waveform in the bottom half of the screen when loaded in either deck 1 or 2 but shows nothing in the top half of the display. Just this one track.

Disclaimer, I did get it off youtube and I am happy to pay the copyright owner for it, but I can't find anywhere to buy it. Its https://youtu.be/EEIMdwjDrXk I can send you the MP3 file if you want.

New news. I purchased the track from BoomKat as FLAC. Converted it to MP3. Still the same. The overview waveform shows on the bottom of the screen, but nothing in the top.

At least I'm legal now :)

Thanks for the help guys.  I reformatted the flash drive to FAT32 and I was able to see the wave form on the big screen.  My flash drive was 64 and I used a program that I found to format it to FAT32 since it was larger than 32.  I only tried one track and in a couple of days I will have the time to try it with my libraries.  At least I got somewhere thanks to your recommendations.  Much appreciated.....Taki

By the way I used http://fat32-format.en.softonic.com/ to format the larger than 32 flash drive.  Free download

Take care

Glad you have it working Taki and sorry for derailing your thread.

@Pulse, I can trim the track down to a few bars and this shows correctly on the display. Is there a limit to the length of the track? At 16 minutes, it is the longest I have.

@Pulse I formatted the stick which is a 16Gb FAT32. No difference. I added a 76 minute continuous mix track to rekordbox and this also shows no waveform in the top half of the XDJ-RX display but plays fine and shows the overview in the bottom half. I also linked the XDJ-RX to rekordbox and it goes exactly the same thing. The 2 long tracks show no waveform in the top half of the XDJ-RX display. Everything else is fine.

@Pulse New test. New USB stick 8Gb FAT32 formatted with default allocation size. Ripped 4 tracks from an audio CD. 3 tracks are under 10 minutes, 1 track is 17 minutes. All analyzed and beat gridded. Same result. The 17 minute track does not show the waveform in the top of the XDJ-RX display but plays correctly and shows the overview in the bottom of the display. The other tracks under 10 minutes each all show the waveform in the top.

I'd be very surprised if you try this and don't get the same result.

@Bryan > Are all tracks under 10 mins showing fine but tracks over 10 mins are not? I'll have to double check this myself, I just want to verify that's possibly the limiting factor.

That's my conclusion, every time I add a long track around 16 minutes or longer the waveform doesn't show on the display.

Certainly not there with a 72 minute mix track. I'll pass this along.

Good, I think its a bug. I don't have the cash to buy a CDJ2000nxs2 and check that. But all donations gratefully accepted.

Okay, so engineers report it's a limitation in the system RAM which prevents waveforms longer than 16 minutes from showing on the XDJ-RX. It works on a CDJ as those units have more RAM available.

I'm having the same problem on a pair of XDJ-1000s, but with a song that's 1 minute and 42 seconds long, in AIFF (converted from FLAC), sorted in Rekordbox. Small waveform and cue points appear, but not the big one. All other songs (all in AIFF) work fine. Tried reformatting my stick (Sandisk Extreme 32GB USB 3.0) to no avail.

I have also just purchased an XDJ-RX in the last week and can't get the large wave forms to appear on screen. I am using a Sandisk USB and have analysed around 50 tracks to test and none of them show large wave forms.

Is there a solution to this now? Please let me know what can be done to fix this.

Cheers
