[4.1.1] BUG - RekordBox doesn't see Podcasts within iTunes playlists...

Since iTunes now decides that a playlist with Podcasts in it is different to a playlist with songs in it, it seems that RekordBox cannot see any Podcast within a playlist.

I import playlists of Podcasts into RekordBox.  Or at least, I did...

I've received an update from the engineers.

This was implemented intentionally by our engineering team due to user request.

But it seems that every user has different preferences regarding podcasts.

If you want to see Podcast files in rekordbox, you will have to import the audio files directly to rekordbox.

What file-format is the podcast file you've added to the playlist?

Gotta love Apple for changing things. I'll let you know when I hear back from our rekordbox team on this issue.

Oh.

Must've been a user with some clout then because this is just weird behaviour handled badly.

No-one thought an option to toggle this behaviour was a good idea?

It's not that there's an ability to "toggle" it -- adding too many toggles or preferences can get messy and confusing.

A fair point clearly, it's just a shame that this behaviour makes it look like either Rekordbox or iTunes isn't working properly.

And of course the majority of DJs aren't playing podcasts. Some, like me though, might have Rekordbox installed on more than just a laptop, and throwing podcasts direct from an easy and intuitive iTunes import via the LAN using Link onto their Pioneer setup and out of their Pioneer speakers is a fantastically easy and great way of getting music playing.

I can change the media type in iTunes from Podcast to Music to get them into Rekordbox, thus breaking my podcast lists and also my iPod sync. Likely though I probably just won't bother listening to any of them at all due to the added hassle.

It's quirks of functionality like that that makes software that little bit extra great and special, until - I'm guessing - a DJ requests that people can't play their podcasts via Rekordbox.

Still, nevermind! :)

I follow you, and there are lots of these small things we do as DJs that we sort of expect will simply "work" because something similar works just fine. I find it worse when something used to work then no longer does, so you got used to A and now you have B, and assume it's broken ... only to find out it was a decision made by someone else to change it!

As @Mark said earlier, unfortunately it looks like if you want to put podcasts into rekordbox, you'll need to manually add the files directly.

I know that's not the solution you were looking for, but we still appreciate the feedback from you regarding this issue!
