Charging For Rekordbox....REALLY

i suppose it was inevitable when pioneer was sold that us djs would be charged for the free software what we've always had for free...i mean i suppose its quite cheap to buy CDJ2000NXS's and a DJM900....NOTTTT oh and controllers are cheap too....NOTTT.....but now the added cost of having to pay for software..SHAME ON YOU

@Tony B > When you bought the CDJs and DJMs, did you buy them as rekordbox HID devices? No. You bought them as CDJs and a mixer, capable of being used with some software (Serato / Traktor) as HID devices and ProDJ Link devices to rekordbox.

The new rekordbox software will eventually support additional hardware devices, but if you want to use HID mode with them, you'll have to pay for an upgrade.

I think you are getting it wrong, bro.
Rekordbox with functionality like it is now (basically a library and preparation tool) is going to be still free, i think. Only if you want to mix tracks like with other DJ software, you will have to pay for a pack that will enable that.

I actually don't see anything wrong with that.

Why XDJ-RX is out of the compatibility list ? Is it in their future plans ?

You only have to pay if you want to upgrade and receive the additional features (FX, performance cells, etc). Rekordbox will still be free and will still function normally.

Correct. rekordbox PLUS PACKS are what cost the money; those include the ability to use them with existing hardware beyond the current LINK method.

Some hardware is not listed as compatible currently, more information will be available in future.

I personally think you are going to struggle expecting people to switch from the industry standard serato, and pay for Rekordbox DJ. They've probably spent hours setting cue point etc and will have to do it all again. Personally I don't know any dj's who after trying Rekordbox have switched. I'm coming to the end of my trial and I wouldn't pay for it fully when I can continue using serato. If it was something like serato intro or virtual DJ I could understand paying. Hope this helps
