Is there any way to downgrade the firmware? I think I saw something about it on another thread.
Tried to add this to another support topic but apparently it was closed by a mod because people are upset their controllers aren't working.
At some point in playing, my right deck (typically my FX 1 button) will begin activating all of the other FX buttons and the tap tempo button. My slip buttons become active and I can't access my cue buttons.
I've upgraded Serato and the firmware, and changed USB cables.

you need to take back all these units and send it to the engineering team so they can see it isn't the hardware. why not request we send the broken unit to pioneer for you to check and see for yourself.
Doesn't work the downgrade
I downgrade it to 1.07 ..same things happend.

can someone try this and let me know:
Hey guys,
I've been dealing with this issue since I bought the SR. I opened a help request and I think we have finally got it figured out. So I'm just going to pass on the process I went through and I hope this helps. Here's the short version, after a month of messing with this thing!
First thing is update the firmware for the controller.
-pioneerdj.com
-there's also direction on this site on how to do this.
Once you have done this:
1. Plug your controller into USB of computer, turn on controller, and fire up SDJ.
2. [once SDJ shows 2 decks] Exit out of SDJ, turn off controller and unplug from computer.
3. On your computer: Search Audio/Midi Setup.
4. Open this app, Click on [Window] tab, Choose [Show Midi Window]
5. Delete the SR driver.
6. Close out of all programs and Restart computer.
7. Follow step 1.
This has fixed the Freezing issue. It had something to do with a bad driver from the original release. This process just forces your computer to re install the new driver from the new firmware update. You can skip steps 1&2 if you want? I'm just passing on my process with this. Although I will pass on that, I deleted the driver before the latest firmware release, and I was experiencing the same issue. Until I followed those steps. This is for Mac users. As for PC, you just need to download the new driver from the site above, that will override the old one and should fix the issue.

mine doesn't freeze
Yesterday I did a test and i notice something
in 2 hours of use the issue apear after 60 minutes, when i press cue on left stop right deck(you know the rest of story)..i stopped the music on both decks and i started press CUE,play several times. In that time i noticed something on slicer button, above performance pads..the led underneath slicer button wich enlightens decrease in intensity, like a a power drain.know what i mean ?

Nope. Didn't fix it.
What is also curious, is that I didn't have any problems with the pitch/tempo switch until today. How is it that a hardware failure on a device that hasn't been used in over a week gets worse? Especially considering that it's not mechanical.
And why isn't the device's POST reporting some kind of issue as well?
Units running the 1.06 firmware are not experiencing this issue. Who can downgrade do it to this firware and see what is the results. With the 1.08 firmware the unit does more than freeze some of the knobs ad keypad are non responsive or do the wrong things. do not upgrade to the 1.08 firmware there is where the problems arises.
No other firmwares are available for download
I've found only 1.07
I found 1.06 and is still is having the issue. Even cleared out the driver and rebooted. This is ridiculous. As soon as Pioneer gets a ton of money from us for fixing these and them 'finding' the issue, they're going to issue a recall or something and we'll be screwed out of the hundreds for the repair.
Time to start learning key commands.
Left deck board 170$,right deck board 170$
I/O board 300$ ,mixer board 180$
Seems legit

It isnt the boards dont spend all the money. One of my friends have ddj sr with 1.06 and no issues. They going to close this forum post soon also so we cant make any comments
@rballiram
see my post above
Nobody is "screwing you" out of anything, and reverting to 1.06 and still having the issues further proves that the problem is NOT firmware related, but hardware.
I don't set the prices, if you don't want to pay to have it repaired, that's not my decision either. The problem is not the same on every unit, so it's not a "mass failure" situation where a recall would be implemented.
Wow. Kind of a hostile and personal response there from the Pulse rep.
Coming from someone that works in IT as their 9-5, and having been involved in break/fix for almost 20 years, hardware failures can manifest themselves in different ways. But your device's POST (power-on self test) which I assume is run during the indicator flashes at startup, should report some type of failure. I don't disagree that this is a Pioneer specific issue and not Serato-based. What I do disagree with is the lack of initiative from the company to get to the bottom of it. At no point has anyone attempted to reach out to me directly, including after I mentioned that the problem worsened and the device hadn't been used in over a week.
I'm going to reach out to tech support and get some assistance there because this is basically nothing more than a message board where there's no actual help. Can't believe I wasted my time here.
I have the same problem.
Since I upgraded the firmware, I have on my last three gigs experienced the music stops and glithches. Sometimes it starts all effects on both decks. And sometimes after glitching the music continues playing, but alle the buttons (except master volumen) don't respond - Then i have to unplug the controller and restart the software...
This is not good standing i front of 500 people...
It is the same issue on all the units just some of us describe it differently based on what knobs we are using. But it is the same problem why are you saying it isnt? If it isnt the firmware and i changed all the hardware already then what is it?
When you get a response from tech support email me at rballiram@hotmail.com. I wished i could have called from my country.
@Ray > I am reaching out to you directly in recommending you send it for servicing. I have been in communication with the engineers who designed the unit, and this is what they're telling me to tell you. How much more direct would you like?
@rballiram > It is a different problem on each unit, which is exactly why we've asked everyone to send their SR to service for repair in order for the hardware to be diagnosed.
Latin America and the agent in J amaica has stop replying after I sent them a video and asked if they can fix the issue. Thank you pioneer for making me get junk
@rballiram > What is the name of that agent?
Marlon Carter
Did anyone call tech support and hear what they said. One person tells me the unit does not get enough power to function properly through a usb.
I haven't had a chance or the patience to call tech support. I guess I should considering I need this thing to work properly when I record next week.
If the thing about USB is true, then AC adapters should be in the box, not a secondary item when stuff goes hectic.
If the unit isn't getting enough power and some of the functions cant work properly, it would explain why that even though I replaced all the boards in the unit, the problem still appears. But the ddj sr don't have a power adapter option
@rballiram > That was one of the things I posted originally; check your cables and USB ports, possibly try another computer. If you had already exhausted those options and still had the problem, then the issue is hardware related.
If you have replaced all the boards in the unit yourself, unfortunately we can't provide any assistance for you as the possibility exists that you have damaged the unit in the repair process. Electro-static damage, mis-wiring, etc. are all possible causes for malfunction and that level of repair advice is not provided here on the forums.
@ PULSE
I noticed somthing on my SR
Left deck on top effects buttons the led decrease a little in intensity like a power drain, not much..just a little
same thing a noticed at slicer button on top performance pads..
sometimes the led have a low blinking after the music, like a strobo.
you know what i mean ?
If you notice clearly also the keypads button look as though they are suffering for power.
The boards were replaced by a professional technician who does repairs for the cdj's but isn't an official pioneer agent. It wasn't done by me.
When the sounds drops off to during using the ddr, it is due to the diminishing power, because sometimes you can actually hear where it gets less and dies out.
most my issues happen on the left deck also.
someone call tech support today and see what they says. long how long this issue going on and there isn't no idea what to do.
I'll post this again because apparently it's been missed...
Not all USB ports provide the same power output. They're supposed to meet a minimum, but don't always. One of the first troubleshooting steps is to try a different USB port on your computer, or simply try another computer. Another is to change the cable, because some cables just plain suck.
@rballiram > It doesn't matter if you replaced it or a technician replaced the parts, if they were not an authorized Pioneer DJ repair facility and didn't know what they were replacing, there is a chance they didn't address the problem or possibly caused further damage. We can't support unknown repairs.
