DDJ RZ; Beat-Gridding and Sampler

Can you beat-grid directly from the hardware or does it have to be done within the software?

If from hardware, how good is it to use? Is there an audible metronome click to listen to?

Also, how does capturing samples on the fly and saving them into sample slots work?

Has anyone switched from Traktor to rekordbox DJ and if so what are your thoughts, especially regarding the above?

Yes, you can adjust the grid using the hardware.  Yes, there is a metronome in rekordbox dj but the DDJ-RZ does not have a hardware button to turn it on/off.

You can learn how to capture samples by reading page 17 of the user manual.

i've used it and it works well.

I prefer to do it in the software though.

Thanks guys.

I've read in the manual you have to have an active loop before you can capture.

Is this correct? I know with Traktor's remix decks you could set the loop length, then capture, without actually having the loop playing beforehand. Capture in advance.

@DJ S-TYPE > Yes, this is correct.  It does work differently than Traktor.  If you can provide me with some detailed feedback as to why Traktor's implementation of this feature is superior, I will gladly forward it to our product planning and engineering teams for consideration.  Thanks!

@Mark > As aforementioned really.
Be able to set a sample to capture on the fly without an active loop.
And being able to change trigger type from hardware.

Also, ability to zoom waveform and set/delete beat grid marker directly from hardware,
as well an audible metronome when in grid mode.

@DJ S-Type > I understand what you want to be able to do.  What I'd like for you to do is explain, in as much detail as possible, WHY you want these features implemented.  I realize this may be the way some other programs work, but please explain why you feel their ways are superior.  Thank you!

@Mark> Simply because it's more user friendly and eliminates the need to use laptop.
