I believe the mic is always going through the master so the cue would pick it up. What gear are you using?

Turn off mic in master headphone cue?
Is is possible to mute the mic coming through the master channel while using headphone cue/master.
I tend to mix with one cue, and the master, but recently had a MC, and there were a few times it was difficult to hear the master music level.

If the DJM is connected to a mixing board, just hook up the MC to that instead.

Yeh that's what I thought. Mic was plugged in on a DJM-900 and I thought that was it was coming out the master there would be no way to mute it but thought I would ask.
