DJM900 Nexus 2 will take firmware update from USB send/return.

1) Save the firmware file in a root directory of a USB stick

2) Power up 900nxs2 while holding pressed down MID FX frequency button (just below green tap button) and effects ON/OFF button (blue button at bottom right corner)

3) Plug USB stick into SEND/RETURN port in top right corner

yes, follow the above steps and you should be good.  I didn't even know you could update the firmware without using a USB stick...

Hello guys,

I tried to update the firmware many times, different USB keys, FAT32 formatted.

When I connect the USB the Send/Return port doesn't lit and no progress in updating for hours, is it maybe broken?

I'm formatting from 1.07 to 1.20.

I'm desperately trying to make the DJM900NXS2 work with Traktor Scratch 2.11, Traktor's update says now should be automatic. Nothing, Nada.

Any help or experiences would be much appreciated!

Best

When you power DJM the way explained above, does it say current version or firmware on the display? If not, what message is displayed?

Are you holding down the correct buttons on the DJM to have the unit enter Update Mode?

Hello Everyone,

once turned on with the correct buttons it's saying 1.07 plus an arrow un 0% progress

plugging the usb nothing is happening for more than 35/40 mins then I quit trying.

Another thing is, you must unzip the file. Only the .upd or whatever is the extension must be put on the stick.

FAT32 and Master Boot checked

File unzipped

Honestly, I think mixer it's faulty

The Send and Return USB Port's light doesn't lit in update mode, it does instead in normal mode.

Thanks for your help!

Hi mate , I have tried using the usb in the send /Return with fat32 and upd file when it says update , The current version is version 1.09 , I might try different usb .

Have you tried re-downloading the file with using a different browser?

What I understand is that you are getting into the 'Update' mode. But it is not reading the USB once plugged in.

Can you please confirm where you stuck? Does it start reading the update file or not at all?

I updated mine to 2.00 just a few minutes ago and the update process worked fine.

Hey John—what type of USB flash drive are you using? Have you tried different ones? Also, version 2.0 (woohoo) of the firmware was just released. Perhaps try that to see if it makes a difference?

Correct. So to recap (this isn't just for you but other users who may be coming to this thread looking for a similar answer):

  1. Format USB drive (FAT 32, Master Boot Record)
  2. Download and unzip the Pioneer update
  3. Place only the .upd file onto the USB drive
  4. Safely Eject the USB drive (right click > eject)
  5. Activate Update/Service Mode on the DJM-900NXS2 (see PDF for instructions).
  6. Insert USB when prompted into the USB/AUX input of the mixer.

Best of luck sir. Hopefully using an alternative USB flash drive will solve the problem. I've found that most of the time it helps out with my issues. Good luck and please keep us updated.

Is anyone else stuck with this?

Check your USB does'nt hold any of the previous Firmware updates in the root directory.

if so , the DJM-900NXS2 just pauses,  displaying UPDATE if it cannot proceed.

Hope that helps..
