E-8309 Link access error

i am having the same problem on 900nxs.. hoping it fixes the issue!

Just installed and tried again - Same error. 

well damn, that breaks my heart.. might happen to me too then. Just revert back to a version that worked for you... i'm currently using 4.1.2 because of all the newer version not working 

I don't have a database for 4.1.2 so it wont work =/

Hey Pioneer? Anything? Nobody will help me - I call and nobody knows anything - Nobody seems to have fixed the error here either. WTF?

Most 8309 errors are due to a firewall problem; try disabling it. If you have it disabled, check that you don't have any other network servers / shares enabled on your system. Turn off your wifi, and connect ONE player directly to the computer. If you're using a 3rd-party ethernet adapter, verify that it works with other connections as well.

AGAIN. I DONT HAVE A FIREWALL. 

Also - NONE of the other suggestions work. As ive told every pioneer rep every single time. 

Yes you do - "I DO have little snitch installed," that's EXACTLY what Little Snitch is, but you said you disabled it... which is all I asked you to do in regards to firewalls in my instructions.

You say "NONE of the other suggestions work" - can you tell me exactly what you've tried? Did you try a 3rd party ethernet adapter or does your Mac have a built-in ethernet port? Have you tried changing cables? Checking the ports for bent pins? Tried another computer?

I uninstalled little snitch completely. The xdj cdj and djm are brand new. Tried a different switch, cables. My ethernet port on my mac is fine. Didn't install on another computer because that's beyond annoying having to install rekordbox on my desktop. I'll give that a shot later despite the fact it won't change anything.

Alright yolo - Installed rekordbox on my PC. it works. I will now have to print out my comment and eat it IRL. (Will Deliver)

But only after I get this to work on my mac. :D 

I guess I have to rip apart my system files and figure out why the FUCK it's blocking my rekordbox communications.

You know, This really just sucks because I have YEARS of ableton files in here, plugins, all kinds of things that I might have to painfully move and then re install almost 150 plugins each with their own set of backups and whatever. Not including all the other programs I use.

Like I either have to fix this by trying a fresh install of Sierra or by figuring out what the issue is. I don't understand.

I've manually set everything under /Contents/MacOS to be allowed - Still nothing - Uninstalled little snitch - Nothing, tried like 30 different methods to turn the firewall off and back on - Nothing.

What on earth else do I even check? Tried with wifi and everything else off. 

lol - no need to print / eat words, I'm just glad it's not the players with the problem, making me look like the jerk! ;)

Are you using an Apple-brand USB-ethernet adapter or is it a 3rd party device?

All good! Sorry for being a garbage human. This is just beyond frustrating. I'm using the USB cable not the ethernet. I guess it makes a network connection to communicate with the players over usb.

Also worth noting when i play music off usb the players turn screen or orang and respond but i just can't get music to do anything and still get that link error.

Late Update: Did a re install for Sierra.... (in place so i dont lose my data) ... still getting the error.

Yet another update: 

So I could not wait any longer - I found another drive - moved my data over and reformatted. 

Pretty upset I have to go through this gigantic process because Pioneer does not know how the software interacts with the OSX firewall. Called Pioneer support 3 times and every time was blown off - I had one person legit tell me "nobody in the office uses a mac so I'm not sure what to tell you" 

- After paying 6k for this stuff you better have fucking wizards working in your support team. 

So it works now - no thanks to pioneer.

I see you've edited your last post, but the message I saw in my email was that you have it working after a reinstall.

I'm glad to see it wasn't an issue with our products and that it's working now, sorry you had to go through the frustration of reinstallation and hopefully you're able to restore your Ableton config.

Would have been helpful if pioneer knew their own software enough to help me though. 

Talked to 3 reps on the phone and in this post nobody has anything to say except 

"LOL ITS NOT US" 

What WOULD have been helpful:

- Knowing how the rekordbox app interacts with the firewall

- Knowing what permissions to set the 4 files to 

- Knowing what the files actually do and how they communicate (am i looking for an IP block, a software block, a rekordbox issue?)

Instead I got a bunch of garbage responses and ended up having to reformat my computer and i'm not 4 days behind on freelance work because of this disaster issue that probably could have been solved had pioneer hired people who knew what they "support".

I mean, traktor worked first try lol. Can't have been that serious. But if you knew what those 4 files do instead of just telling me to f off essentially, I might have been able to fix it without this giant hassle. Just sayin.

If I had a better option, I would have provided one for you. I'm sorry it wasn't a quick-and-easy solution.

Had you previously upgraded to El Cap from Mavericks? (and then El Cap > Sierra?)

I fix computers for a living, wasn't looking for an easy solution per say. Just something I could have done or looked for that could have helped me understand why that was happening and maybe helped others fix the issue also. 

I had upgraded from El Cap from Mav and then to Sierra - all upgrade installs. 

Regardless - Now that it actually works and I can just plug in my laptop instead of worrying about a flash drive all the time and i've fixed my ableton DISASTER 

I'm pretty stoked 

I'm sure there's a way to rebuild the network stacks on OS X, but that's not something we would go around instructing users to do -- and I can't make any assumptions on your level of expertise; we have users who come in and ask questions about things that can be found in the manual!

Upgrades seem to be where we see more issues vs. fresh installations, which is why I asked.

Yeah no I understand that. Definitely not something you can tell just anyone to do lol. I actually looked into that but before I wound up trying it I just said f it and started fresh. It was really just a nightmare because I have so many ableton plugins - thankfully a bunch just worked by moving them and I only had 50% to do.
