Sound quality greatly diminished when using XDJ-XZ with Serato

HI all,

I just recently tried to use my XDJ-XZ with serato and the sound quality is beyond terrible. I tried 2 different speakers and it is the same result. When using my USB with the XDJ, sound quality is fine. Any idea what could be causing this? It's impossible to DJ with serato now with this controller. I have also tried changing the buffer size in serato and that doesn't do anything

Hi,

Thank you for posting this.
I also have similar bad experience with the XDJ-XZ when using Serato DJ Pro.
The issues are troublesome for the DJ's that play in a club in Düsseldorf, Germany.
I hope Pioneer development team is reading along.
I will mention some issues we are having:

When connecting laptop with Serato DJ to the XDJ-XZ at first everything seems fine, but fairly quickly, usually after a couple of minutes things start to spiral down.
One of the first that happens is that track artwork will no longer be visible in the jog wheels, after that the sound gradually  starts to deteriorate over the night.
The sound will be slightly/heavy distorted from 1 channel or sometimes both channels.

We tried some troubleshooting:
-updated XDJ-XZ firmware to the latest.(version 1.25)
-used different high quality USB cables with and without ferrite chokes.
-tried different usb ports on the laptop USB 2.0 & USB 3.0 (4 ports total)
-tried turning off XDJ-XZ without power cord for a couple of minutes to get rid of possible static electricity.
-the issues persists even after various Serato DJ Pro program updates spanning over a couple of months.
-The main DJ's use Windows 10 & 11 operating systems, all drivers to the latest.

The club owner even took the effort to invite a technician to go over the club audio installation.
Speakers, amps, preamps, cables, you name it.
Everything was checked. All seems ok.

I can only assume that the issue is either XDJ-XZ hardware/firmware or Serato software related.

In all honesty I have to say that some nights the device works flawlessly without sound distortion. But artwork issue persists always.
it's a 50/50 thing. But we need 100% working device all the time.

The club is packed every weekend, so it is important that Pioneer comes up with a solution.....

Sounds like the poor sound quality when using your XDJ-XZ with Serato could be related to audio routing, driver issues, or USB connection settings rather than the speakers themselves, since your USB playback works fine. Make sure you have the latest Serato and XDJ-XZ firmware installed, check that the correct audio interface is selected in Serato, and try using a high-quality USB cable directly connected to your computer. Sometimes, adjusting sample rate settings or reinstalling the drivers can also resolve distortion problems. Just as precise setup is crucial for clear audio in DJing, professional services like TV installation Brisbane ensure every connection and setup is done correctly for optimal performance and reliability.

The XDJ-RX is compatible with Rekordbox 6.8.1, and there are no known incompatibility issues reported with the latest firmware update. However, it's always good to check the official Pioneer DJ tekken 3 apk download website or user forums for any specific user experiences or updates.
