Sorry, that detailed technical information is not available.
Hi there, I am going to retire my old Native instruments Audio 8 and Traktor Setup and move over to rekordbox DJ DVS using the Interface 2 sound card.
I cant find anywhere what chipset is being used in the soundcard and how the sound quality compares to the Audio 8 or Rane SL3 etc?
The NI cards used Cirus chipsets and sound fantastic. Does anyone know whats in the Interface 2? I am hoping for Wolfsons DACS in there so you would achieve a simular sound to the CDJ 900 / 2000 nexus series.
Having the same chipset as the XDJ servies would be dissapointing as they dont sound great compared to the Nexus Wolfsons.
Many thanks in advance

+ 1 on this subject.
Please can someone update with some detailed information on the D/A conversion on this device?
Cheers
Having just completed many hours of A/B comparisons including blind tests i can confirm that to my ears the digital to audio conversion of the Traktor Scratch A10 i tested was superior to the Interface 2.
Thank you thats really useful to know and i am not suprised. It seems Pioneer will go dead quiet when pressed on audio chipset unless they have put a Wolfson DAC or equivilent in there.
I asked the same question when the xdj range came out as i compared the inferior sound quality of the cdj 850 compared with the cdj 900's. I just got a "cannot disclose but sounds great response"
Its a shame as if pioneer really wished to compete against Native instruments / Rane etc they would disclose chipset as other vendors do and hide no secret about it.
Interestingly i went out and bought a Traktor A10 and upgraded to Traktor 2 as i couldnt trust what the Pioneer device would sound as good.
Your results confirm that and i really appreciate your responses.
Cheers
Andy
I think you did the right thing.
Considering that in some cases digital conversion from the latest consumer level audio interfaces performs better than mastering grade D/As from a few years back I really expected better from Pioneer. Also unless someone can tell me what I’m doing wrong in Rekordbox, this system alters the dynamics of your music. I prefer the dynamics of the music I play to be manipulated by a mastering engineer.
Interesting findings with Rekordbox colouring the sound. I had the same argument with Native instruments and Traktor years back that the sound was different between versions. They swore blind they didnt colour the music until different members sent in proof that was the case.
I too would prefer no altering on the sound dynamics as the output goes straight into my Xone 92 which needs to help.
I am also disapointed they didn't put a high end DAC in the Interface 2 to better the competition. With Rekordbox slowly getting into line with with likes of Traktor / Serato this would have given them the edge and caused me to switch over from Traktor.
At the moment i am glad i didnt. Perhaps they will bring out an updated verison of the interface 2 with wolfson DAC and an option in Rekordbox for pass through to not touch the sound.
Any comments Pioneer?
* xone 92 needs no help from software for the sound
*Traktor 3
100%.
I will return my Interface 2, upgrade to Traktor 3 and use it with a studio quality audio interface. Shame about the postage costs but I really wanted to give Pioneer the benefit of the doubt, that was foolish.
