Sorry this was missed -- it originally arrived during the NAMM Show while our US moderator team was all at the show, so we wound up with a bit of a backlog and some posts fell between the cracks and went unanswered.
To answer some of your questions...
When lyric acquisition fails, it's because it can't match that song to the content in the database. The engineers are working to improve the fuzzy-logic on matching, but right now even just tweaking one of the fields may help (for example, if the artist field on your song says "featuring so-and-so" but the one in the database does not, it may result in a zero match). Sometimes just removing the song time helps a match as well.
Unfortunately due to the way the system operates, it's not possible to use your own lyric data as there is timing information that goes along with them. As you may have found, there are several types of lyric display methods:
- song (which shows multiple lines of lyrics and just scrolls)
- verse (has general timing and shows one or two lines at a time)
- word (has individual timing for each word and tends to match / display very well)
As for FX, logos, etc... you can do all of that! The best part is the lyric module runs with the requirement of the video plugin and through that you can layer the lyrics, videos, and video effects!
