With the release of Rekordbox 5 I decided to setup a Rekordbox DVS station with a Pair of PLX-1000 and a DJM-S9.
The idea was that I could have DJ friends come over and plug there rekordbox key in and DJ on the DVS system with there content. (just like they were plugging CDJs but on vinyl, yay!) However this dream was shattered.
Whenever rekordbox is trying to read from the USB flash drive it becomes painfully slow. Whenever you select a play list on the flash drive or try to scroll down a playlist the GUI completely locks up anywhere from 5 to 20 seconds. However if you have tracks playing on the decks they keep playing perfectly. Now If I plug an external 750 GB prepared with rekordbox hard drive, everything work perfectly. The hard drive runs at a fraction of the speed (Big MAX 90MB/Sec) of the flash drive (350MB/Sec). I even tried a really old usb key that goes a pathetic 15MB /sec on it's best day and it's just as painfully slow as the super fast Flash Drive. All storage devices are connected USB 3.0
The Flash drive I used works lightning fast in a CDJ
The Specs:
Rekordbox 5.1.1
Pentium Dual Core G3258 @ 4.5Ghz / 8GB RAM / Intel 530 240GB SSD with WINDOWS 10 (I also have MAC OS on this machine and it does the same thing the pinwheel on the cursor just spins and you can't click anything in rekordbox) PLUS a 500GB Western Digital Black HDD for Music. This machine runs rekordbox flawlessly with content off it's internal drives.
The Key is a Kingston Hyper X Savage 128GB
I also tried with my laptop a Lenovo Y700-14 i7 6700HQ / 16GB RAM / NVMe SSD. Does exactly the same thing.
I Actually waited to post this until 5.2 came out. just in case this was a bug that might have been resolved and it's actually even worst now if you can imagine. The lock ups are even longer and more frequent.
I would really love to get that station running, hopefully this can be resolved.
Thanks!

Has the music been properly exported from rekordbox onto the drives as opposed to just being copied from the file browser?
Of course they are!
As stated in the post, the hole point of the setup is to use REKORDBOX Keys!
They key works perfectly in any CDJ.
Not my first rodeo buddy ;)
