Two things! well three

1.st why can't the new players NXS2, DVJ RX and RX2 read camelot OR the value that you put in manually? Even if Pioneer key is "not" enabled.

In RBX V it all seem fine. But when i use my drives on several machines this does not work. The funny thing is that i works PERFECT on my old CDJ 2000.

So much for having the state of the art, eh?

Can you please talk to your technicians so we can turn off that feature to read the tags or values that is set in RBX

2. I would be grateful, if i could have the possibility to click on a track and find what playlist it originates from. Especially if i have duplicates in several playlists.

RBX V are my bread and butter, you understand?, This is what i make my living on. So i really need this to work. Ive shelled out over 30 grand on Pioneer gear over a period of 5 years.

And can you please, please, please make it possible to click on a folder to analyze it and not have to mark every file in that folder.

Thanks you so much!

What's your issue with the Camelot key?

I've used MixedinKey for years and never had a problem with CDJs reading the key.

I currently use NXS2's and they read Camelot keys fine, you can sort by Camelot key and even the key/traffic light system works by suggesting compatible keys, all using Camelot.

Well i just get the traditional keys, both on Nxs2 and CDJ RX. Ive used MIK since launch and it works flawless on CDJ 2000 and NXS, not RX, NXS2 or RX2. THAT is the issue.

Where exactly are you experiencing the issues? If you give a bit more info/explain your workflow, I might be able to help...

Well the strange thing is that when i use my Vanilla CDJ 2K or NXS, i get the traditional camelot key, 1A - 12A, 1B - 12B without any problems. I can search my playlists or on the key itself. But when i use NXS2 or RX1-2 i get the key as in the "Traffic light" and i seem not be able to change it. And if i press menu to search in the playlist i only get the minor, sharp and flats. No Camelot what so ever.

And i have not analyzed the key in Rekordbox only the BPM and Waveform. So it should be unchanged. As it say 1A in MIK, and i have the values in the comments as well.

So i wonder what you may do differently as it may work for you?

What Firmware are you on?, it feel a bit farfetched that it has to do with the firmware.

Cheers

I'm on the latest firmware, but that isn't the reason MIK keys work on my NXS2, they always have...

I really recommend you update to the latest firmware anyway, there's a great new feature that allows you to sort a playlist by BPM and you can now view the KEY at the same time. Previously it would only show BPM.

When your tracks are in Rekordbox, do they show the MIK value for the key? They should do.

Regarding the filter/search, you're totally right, the search box only shows minor/major values. this is because Pioneer have not licensed camelot from MIK and can't show their copyrighted 1A 2A etc values. However, whilst the software cannot show the values, it DOES recognise them and uses them to show matching/compatible keys.

In that search bar, the 'real' key values are actually laid out in the same order as the camelot wheel. So from left to right (in minor mode) they are also 1A, 2A, 3A etc. So if you want to filter tracks that are compatible with 3A, count three from the left (Bbm) and press that, Job done. It works the same for major keys too.

Hope this makes sense, any questions please ask.

Sorry for the double post, but i've been messing round with my CDJs and think i understand the area you're talking about. When you are in the top level of a USB stick, and scroll down to KEY, these values are all in 'real' keys, Cm, Bb# etc - they are on mine too and i'm pretty sure that these were in Camelot key on older CDJ models so i think you're absolutely right. It would be great if Pioneer showed these key values in whatever system they have been created in.

I guess i must have adapted my workflow to the system i describe in the previous post to get around it when i first got the NXS2's. Try my method, it's actually very intuitive and super powerful when you also use the +/- BPM alongside the star ratings...

Well Phil, its the only way i got right now. So ive been using this way you mention all along. AND i don't like that one bit. I want 1A-12A to be shown in the display just as on the NXS and 2K Cdjs do.

All this real estate on the display and not much to show for it.

And with the new "plotter" DDJ 1000 i don't see any problem to give us the info we want in the NXS2 as well. But on the main screen!

It won't take much effort. but then again who would buy a NXS3 with these mentioned features if you get them already on the NXS2 ????

Just look at how long i took to get Flac support. Geez!

Would have been nice to get the possibility to change the order for example on "Artist" and "track" in the info window. Sometimes i just want to look for an artist, and not just have the track and key showing in the window.

There are a ton of improvements Pioneer could have done. But for that they would have needed to talk to people that play more then say 30 tracks in a set.

The live guys in the real world!. You know the punters that pays for all this!

If you get MIK to analyze it correctly it does not matter if Pioneer key sc*w it up in RBX as you can use the ordinary playlists and search in default mode. BUT, it would have been nice to search and see the Values like on the older hardware. So i now understand why my NXS2 sits and collects dust while my trustworthy CDJ 2Ks bring in the dough!

Thanks for the help though!

Why are you using Pioneer DJ product, Martin? You obviously seem so displeased with them and their functionality, that perhaps it is time for you to make a change to something that fits your needs and workflow better? Because your constant moaning on this forum is getting quite tiresome.

First of all - the Camelot system is licenced. Pioneer DJ can't just adopt the system without without first buying the rights to it. That being said, actually putting in the keys yourself will work just fine. The simplest way is to have Rekordbox analyse- and write the keys to the files, and then simply convert them in MP3Tag or similar. You will however miss out the matching system that the NXS2 offers, which sucks. More to the point - most experienced DJs know the Major scale just fine, and have no need for the Camelot system.

FLAC support is also way, WAY down on the list of priorities, as 99% of the players out there have no support for them, and few online retailers of music provide FLAC. Not to mention that FLAC is still in development, and not yet perfected codec wise. FLAC is on its way out there, but that adoption will take time.

Now, Martin, please stop writing these rubbish posts, and either accept the capabilities of your hardware, or simply find something else that suits you better.

Well Tord or whom you may be. Do not tell or write me what i can nor can not do. I bought a sh*tload of Pioneer products, ive been a deejay for over 27 years. Ive been an avid follower and user of Pioneer products. So when its NOT working. You telling me to shut up?

Well, i got news for you. It takes more then just blowing smoke like you do for me to stand down. Take this as a hint or tip. Cause im not the only one to feel or think like me.

Don't give me that bull with license and difficulties when it comes to different formats.

Cause that is not what we were discussing here. I have bought the fact that Pioneer ditched the idea of Camelot long time ago for their own traffic-JAM.

And im certain Pioneer don't have to pay a licencefee for digits and letters in a box like the comments-section in RBX. That my MIK(THIRD PARTY)  have already analyzed in the first place.

I want the hardware to show EXACTLY what RBX does. Nothing more, nothing less

And im certain the figures in sales will tell it clear as day.

When now competitors let RBX users read and play their playlists in their hardware. But Pioneer does the opposite?

To me you just sound a bit behind maybe brainwashed, sorry for being blunt. But when i see something stupid i act on it. I can not lie. Cause i think i have the upper hand here when it comes to the products and lineups. Ive used Pioneer products since they first launched in Europe. My first own setup was the DJM500 and CDJ 500. So im no spring-chicken nor fugesickle. I know my sh*t. You dig?

I eat, sh*t and drink Rekordbox and Pioneer gear / Equipment.

You ask why i use it. Well, show me something that can match it?, when it works!

The reason why i write the way i do is because of DISAPPOINTMENT, Im not sure you are familiar with the expression or term. Look it up. It could help you understand "whiners" like me in the future. When you shell out +20 000$ and don't get what you want. Are you telling me you are the one to just keep your mouth shut and like a good little boy stand in line while they run you over?

I will use my gear, but i feel Pioneer is loosing the grip of reality.

Thank god i have my older gear that works perfectly. And i curse myself for following the stream and jump on CDJ 2K NXS2, Not the mixer 900 NXS2, that thing is perfect.

Id rather have Camelot, Playlist and assortment adjustment then Trafficjam, Touchscreen, Slipmode or any other "buzzkill"

@Martin > Yeah, Camelot is a licensed system - just like NTFS, which is why that's not supported either, and they're not cheap. Not everyone pays the owner to use them, but the 800lb gorilla can't just go and use it for free and get away with it.

Both of you play nice or you'll find yourselves in the penalty box.
