Is your PLX output set to LINE ?
Hey Guys!
Just opened the box of my brand new 900nxs2.
I have to say I'm really disappointed cause I met terrible sound quality problem as other guys with DJM-250, but me with NXS2!!!
I had DJM-800 before. When I saw that 900NXS2 has wider frequency range immediately I decided to jump in and buy it. The DJM-800 i sold, 2 months earlier. So in the time in between I have rent a djm 850.
I use PLX-1000 and Grado DJ200i pickups.
So by today I've received brand new un-opned 900NXS2 and I have connected my turntables, and I was close to cry.
Such sound quality like i would listen tape cassette player.
Really if would measure the sound quality of DJM800 as 100 that 850 is 95 and this 900NXS2 with quasi wider frequency range I would rank to about 50.
What are you guys doing with this mixer?!?!?!
I really expect serious explanation.
C'mon!
Thanks!

Hi Pulse!
PLX-1000 is not switchable!
So has normal phono output, connected to phono imput ( I'm DJ since more than 20 years) and also grounding is connected. In my pickups there is no more than 50 working hours so just been ruin in.
Sorry, brain in neutral, fingers in drive. I assume you've got it connected to the phono input?
Sure :-)
I agree with You "Artworked"!
I just sold my DJM-800 in mid of December. I have read about that everywhere that is the one of the best sounding mixer ever. I felt the same.
By purchasing DJM-900NXS2 I hoped that I would get even better sounding mixer, just finding out in the specification 20-40000Hz frequency range.
My Grado DJ200i is one of the best DJ pickup in the world with the widest (10-50000Hz) frequency range. For sure I don't use it for time-code. For that a simple Concorde would be totally enough.
I use Serato as well in some styles makes my life easier. I used a Rane SL4 sound-card with DJM-800 together. In my region SL4 has a very big value on the used market, almost sold for the same money as DJM-800. So to buy 900NXS2 after selling those units required only 400$ from my pocket. And with DJM900NXS2 no need for sound-card anymore.
Here the problem could be only with the quality of Phono pre-amp cause with digital sources sounds well. But vinyl is terrible. Lack on high hats, no sound stage audible, no dynamism. It sounds like a 30 years old cassette tape in the dirty headed player, really!
lol my input in this thread has magically disappeared lol :) The pioneer moderators are running this board like a dictator, you can't speak the truth and expect to remain alive for very long.
I also agree with you Costi ;)
Everything described in video:

focus on hi-hats..... sounds so baaaad on DJM850 preamp.
Do you guys think that this issue can be fixed with any software update? I mean if its hardware fault, its impossibe to do anything with it right?
(btw got latest firmware and turntable is grounded)
