XDJ-RX not loading hot cues of playing track if loaded onto other deck

My XDJ-RX (not the RX2) does not the load hot cues when the track that is playing on one deck is loaded onto the other deck. Does anyone else have this problem? It happens very consistently for me. If I stop the track on the first deck, and then load the track onto the other deck, the hot cues will load. But if it is playing, the hot cues do not load. They are dimmed on the second deck and, if I press one, a hot cue is set and saved.

The track also gets loaded on the second deck as an “instant double” (as Serato uses the term). I would prefer if got loaded like any other track, but I can certainly understand the reasoning behind this, and it is not a problem as is my main concern.

I am using the latest software (firmware 2.21, Rekordbox 5.2.0) and .aif files and. The problem occurs whether the files are served from a laptop or a USB stick.

The reason hot cues are not loaded automatically when you load the same track to another deck is for performance, but this only happens under certain load methods. How is it you're loading the track to the second deck?

Hello Pioneer,

Thanks for the reply. The problem occurred when I was loading the files from either a USB stick or a laptop connected with an ethernet cable. In both cases, I would load both tracks using the rotary selector on the controller. On the USB stick, I would browse until I found the track. On the laptop, I would add the to Tag List on the laptop, and then load from Tag List using the rotary selector on the controller.

Please note, though, that after my initial posting, I solve this problem as follows: In Rekordbox “My Settings” on the laptop, I changed HOT CUE AUTO LOAD from "rekordbox SETTING" to "ON”. The problem went away. Thank you if you can provide any additional insight on what was going on, or if you might be able to get both settings to work, but it does appear to be resolved for now. Thanks again.

Best wishes,
Anthony

If you load that same track through the TAG LIST, a search result, or by using the |< or >| (track search) buttons, it will act as an "instant doubles" load and prioritize the speed of the load vs. calling the hot cues.

If you're using rekordbox dj (performance mode), this doesn't happen as those hot cues are always loaded, regardless of the setting.
