Official comment
No - the pad colours indicate the mode you're in (except for hot cues where they show the colour assigned to that specific hot cue).

DDJ-XP1 - how to change pad colours?
Hey guys.
I've just bought the XP1 which i love.
I can change the pad colours in the sampler section but cant figure out how in FX.
Can anyone help me here?
