RB-DMX1 Support For Different Fixtures

Hi there,

Does anybody have any information when RekordBox and the RB-DMX1 is going to properly support FX and lasers? Having it just control a few par cans and only being able to use my moving heads as white spotlights without gobos or colours doesn't seem worth the £350 I paid for it when I could have bought an OpenDMX Pro interface and software for half the price or the Chauvet Obey 70.

Should I return the RB-DMX1 for a refund and switch to OpenDMX or a controller like the Obey, or will RekordBox be getting proper support for other fixtues in the next month or two? It's incredibly frustrating.

And it wouldn't do what rekordbox does in automatically analysing the music to match the energy level and song intensity to a pre-programmed macro.

Sorry, I know it's frustrating that not all of your fixtures are supported yet, but you can't compare apples and oranges. We don't have a timeline for these updates, but there will be improvements to lighting made in future releases.

It's not really comparing apples to oranges, really. I still have to manually change almost every single analysed song so the phrases match up correctly. It's also not possible to change the energy of the song when it seems to get it wrong. Giving me Up1, Down1 etc isn't useful when the song is split into verses and choruses. Being able to change that would be good and also being able to make adjustments to the analysis rather than having to clear all the phrases and start from scratch. Especially when I'm having to do it manually and I accidentally click in the wrong place.

Don't get me wrong I think it's a good idea, but it feels it's been a little rushed out the door. Even if we were able to add attribute cues like SoundSwitch does, it would be an interim fix (even though attribute cues are a real pain in the butt with SoundSwitch).

The rest of RekordBox is fantastic software, though. Glad I made the jump from Traktor, just hoping the lighting mode can be something awesome soon.

I've programmed DMX lighting shows through software and consoles for years and that whole process is manual whereas the built-in lighting, while it may require some tweaking or finessing to make it perfect, automates a whole lot of the process of programming a light show. So yes, apples and oranges.

I too am hoping to see some changes and improvements, as well as additional functions and fixture types included in future updates, but we don't have any information available on timeline. Sorry!
