Rekordbox migrating libraries and I've messed it up, need your help please!

Hi there, I've exported my Rekordbox database to an external hard drive along with my music folders. Then I've deleted the music off my laptop and cleaned my laptop up. I stupidly deleted my library off rekordbox on my laptop, so when I copy the tunes back into rekordbox, I've lost all my cues and loops?

What's worth mentioning is I can grab playlists from my flash drive(where the music was copied onto) and copy them into my playlists on rekordbox (and the cues will copy over), but the files are now in the "contents" way of storing files.

Essentially what I'd like to do is copy my music folders back onto my laptop and move them back into rekordbox and load my cues back in?

extra note: As my library(with cues) is synced onto my flash drive, is it as easy as syncing it back onto my rekordbox library through the sync manager? Will this work if I've deleted the playlist off the collection/playlist section? What I don't want to do is try that, and maybe lose the tunes on my flash drive? If you send me an email I can maybe send you screenshots of my situation if that's easier? Really appreciate your help on this!

Not sure if you do a skype option, maybe easier for you to have a look at my laptop yourself? I have lots of gigs coming up and need this fixed as it's spinning my head! Many thanks, Rob

You said you exported the database to an external drive, but then deleted the library from your laptop. What exactly did you delete from the laptop? If the database was on the external drive, it would not be "on" the laptop.

Hi pulse thanks for coming back so quick!

ok so i followed your steps on your vid and copied my music folders that were on my desktop to a flash drive, and "exported the database in preferences>advanced and changed the drive" over.)

Then I (stupidly) deleted the playlists in rekordbox, leaving it blank and deleted the tunes off my laptop.

So now the tunes and database info is on my flash drive.

I cleaned my laptop of all music files, then I changed the database drive back to my c drive in rekordbox and put the music folders back on my laptop.

so now I have a blank Rekordbox which I need to load my playlists and cues back onto.

How do I load the library cues and loops back onto rekordbox along with the music that's back on my desktop?

hope I explained it right! haha

If you deleted the playlists, did you leave the music in the main section of the library?

How many times have you closed / opened rekordbox since that?

When I plug the flash drive in and locate it in rekordbox it shows all my playlists and cues etc from the flash drive...

Yeah, 4 times will have lost the 3 backups kept in rotation by the system.

All your tracks on the export device will have their cues and such, but re-importing them won't put them back into the original structure. You could recover and import them from the USB drive but they'll be organized by rekordbox in your Music folder.
