rekordbox music management best practices

Hi everyone, first time poster. Wanted a clarify on how rekordbox deals with having music on the same place as the drive that plays on cdj's. Allow me to clarify

I have an external drive of which I have my music collection - thousands of mp3's and flac files. They are located on the root directory of the drive in a folder called music very organized in folder by artist then by year. This folder is where all the original tracks are located

In record box, how do set it up so that, I can use the same external hard drive as my "USB" stick without having to duplicate the entire database on the drive? I moved the database to the drive, and even so when I plug into the cdj2000nxs2 it states no rekordbox database found.

Thanks for your help in advance!

The beauty of that is there's no duplication. Back in version 4, it would duplicate the files on export, but now it's all friendly and you can "export" all your songs to that same drive you use as the source.

You MUST export them for the tracks to be available to the CDJ as the export database is what the CDJ reads.
