SX3 Losing Play/Pause when touching platters

I just bought my DDJ SX3 in July and had worked flawlessly until about two weeks ago when I completely lost play/pause functionality and it became just about completely unresponsive from what I could tell right before going on for my set. I trouble shooted the issue for about 45 mins to search through other forums here and find a temporary solution of using the controller in jog wheel only mode which seemed to do the trick for me. This is obviously a major issue being that it's one button away from total catastrophic failure essentially while playing. Is this a hardware issue or a defective unit? Didn't have the issue until of recent. All drivers are updated to current, Serato is running most current version and my MacBook pro is running most current IOS. Has there been a real solution to this major issue yet?
