It's possible the unit was no longer receiving adequate power over the USB connection; please try using a different USB port, or connect the SB3 through an externally-powered USB hub.
I have been using the player for a few months now with serato dj lite and installed the latest firmware 101. My laptop is an hp i5 8th gen 1.6 processor 8gb of ram and win10 os. While playing it last week the audio quality suddenly dropped and the lights on the player start flashing. Later on after restarting and updating the firmware when I loaded a track which had 4 cue points which I could see on the laptop, the lights on the player hot cues were not light.

I took a 20sec video with my phone
I have the same problem.verry annoying when play at a party. It works for like an half hour and then the audio starts to crack and some light starts to flash.
After removing the usb cable and plugging it back the ddj works back like normal but you never know when it's gonna happen again.
So what to do?
When I upgraded the software to serato dj pro it stopped
Changing the software isn't necessarily the solution.
As noted in the official answer above, the majority of issues with the DDJ-SB units (1, 2, or 3) is that they rely on the computer's USB port to deliver power to the controller. If the computer's USB chipset can't deliver consistent power, the controller may have problems. Changing the USB port used, or even the USB cable can often make a difference. In some cases, changing power priority settings within the OS can improve the performance.
If the issue is just audio crackling, check the audio buffer size and be sure to disable any background applications or services which may be hogging system resources and causing interruptions.
I solved it when download the latest I java software do windows 10.the install firmware for pioneer ddj sb3 controller and it back to perfect condition
I don't care pioneer sb3 sound quality is bad I am not bashing the product but I want you guys at pioneer to make a better sound card for the new sb4 because the rekordbox pioneer ddj 400 sounds way better than the sb versions. people should have the right to use what ever software they want to use with their controller the purchase it.
@richard > Are you suggesting that you should also have the "right" to put diesel in your gasoline powered car?
