DDJ-XP1 setup issues

I'm having issues with my most recent purchase, the DDJ-XP1 and trying to get it to work.

Here is my setup

* 2 - CDJ-900NXS (connected via ethernet to ethernet hub)

* 2 Technics SL-1200MK2
* 1 - DDJ-XP1 (connected via USB to MacBook Pro)
* Rane MP2016 Rotary Mixer and Extender (old school analog - NO USB)
* Pioneer RMX-1000 (connected via effects in/out
* Dopereal Islolator/crossover (connected daisy chained via effects loop in/out)
* MacbookPro (Ethernet to ethernet hub)
* Rekordbox - EXPORT MODE

When I connect the DDJ-XP1 to my Mac, I get nothing other than a booting sequence of lights and that's it. No control, no track selecting, nothing.

If I switch it to PERFORMANCE mode, I can actually get it to respond. However, the tracks I select DO NOT load into the CDJs, but I can only hear the music on my Mac's internal speakers

Keep in mind that the CDJs are connected via ethernet.

I've tried every configuration possible on my end and I'm just about ready to return the unit as much as I really don't want to. I think it's an awesome tool from what I've seen in so many videos online.

Would purchasing an Interface-2 make it happen? I really don't want to buy a sound card which is the reason I got rid of both, Traktor Audio DJ 8 and Serato SL4.

I use Rekordbox software when at home, but USB sticks when out.

Is there a workaround to my current setup, or am I just doing something wrong?

Thanks,

The XP1 is designed for use in PERFORMANCE mode, not EXPORT mode - the purpose of it is to interface with rekordbox dj and provide additional access to controls you might not have on your hardware (eg. hot cues not available on a CDJ-900NXS).

If you connected your CDJs by USB you could control the decks within performance mode, but if you wanted to use the turntables as well, yes, you'd need some way of inputting timecode such as the Interface2.

OK, I'm half way there. I connected the laptop direct to the left CDJ (deck 1) via USB. Link is selected on the display.

The CDJs are paired via ethernet hub.

How do I get the right CDJ (deck 2) to play?

Both CDJs need to be connected to the computer via USB; there is no ethernet connection involved.

So eliminate all ether cables and ethernet hub and pick up a USB hub instead.

USB out from the Mac to the hub. Then both CDJs to the hub via USB.
