Can I ask why you didn't use the Library Backup / Library Restore functions?

browser completely black
hi there,
while trying to migrate my library and software to a new computer, after trying to import the .xml data to retrieve cue and analysis info, recordbox crashed, and when restarted the software, the browser window would be completely empty. My steps were:
- 2012 macbook pro i5 8g RAM, high Sierra, clean install
- installed & registered serial number in Rekordbox, opened fine, with browser etc.
- import music library to iTunes from backup HD (drag & drop)
- swap iTunes library.itl file to retrieve playlists within iTunes
- in Rekordbox, "restore library", selected latest .xml file from backup HD
this latest action caused Rekordbox to crash and I am unable to get any music in there, and the "restore library" function is greyed out.
I have tried everything to my knowledge but really don't know how to fix this? I've even re-installed to no avail. Super frustrating, I got rid of the old laptop because RB wasn't functioning.
Traktor seems to work fine, btw.

i did though: selected “update library”, then went to my backup drive (though it wasn’t clear to me which file i had to select from there), selected the most recent rekordbox.xml file, after that a crash occurred and at restart the RB browser went black

i mean “restore”, not “update”
so i’m thinking something ‘s wrong with that .xml file, only i have no way to undo it and re-instate rekordbox.
also, like i said, the “restore lib” function is now greyed out

in “library/pioneer/rekordbox/..” there is currently no rekordbox.xml file. Could this be why there is no browser function? I’m on the road now so i can’t access my backup disk, but if i could just get RB to work again I would be helped allready

changed “datafile.edb” to “datafile.edb.old”
changed “datafile.backup.edb” to “datafile.edb”
i now have a browser again.
