Importing my music from old laptop to new via USB

Bit of background on this:

Recently have upgraded computers to a new Macbook

I put all my music I wanted to transfer over onto a memory stick.

Plugged it into my new laptop and opened up Rekordbox and imported the playlists across which seemed to work.

However - when removing memory stick (safely) the files then become corrupted as I assume the file path is from the USB. How can I move the folders onto my computer without corrupting the file paths?

Please help!!

Importing music in to RB playlists means that you assign a filepath, in this case, from USB stick to RB. You don't copy the music files in to RB. When you remove the USB stick, RB can not find the file source anymore, and all your music files instantly become 'corrupted' as you wrote.

You can copy-paste your USB stick to the MB drive, and change the filepath from USB to MB drive in RB settings.

In my case I keep all music files on an external 1TB Lightning SSD, formatted in FAT32. My MBP is just for RB and Serato software. It's a more safe way of handling your precious songs I think. And every now and then you can backup the external SSD for extra safety.

MB stands for Macbook, or MBP for Macbook Pro. MB drive is the internal HDD or SSD in your Macbook.

In the RB (Rekordbox) settings you’ll find that the filepath you have is set to USB. Change this to your Mabook’s internal HDD/SSD.
