Hello, I have my entire music collection on an external hard drive. I created the path, imported titles and created some playlists. It happens again and again that the titles of the collection are not displayed in record box. Then I select the XML file again and then it usually works again. Now I get the error message "The specified rekordbox XML file can not be read correctly" Does anyone have an idea what I can try? I'm not in the mood to sort my 10k songs again.

I need to clarify a few things...

1) You have your music on an external drive and you imported the songs to the collection. When you say that the titles are not displayed within rekordbox, do you mean that the songs are not in the collection list, or that the files can't be played because they're "missing"?

2) I'm not sure what you mean by you select the XML file "again" -- when did you select it the first time? Why are you using the XML file? Did you import from another computer?

Thank you for your prompt reply. The songs are not in the collectionlist. If I open Recordbox and the titles are not displayed, I go to the preferences and select the XML file again. Normally, all titles and playlists will be displayed again.

I just want to swap out the database to save space on the notebook. I do not need 150 gb of music all the time. But Rekordbox seems to have real problems with it.

Typically, rekordbox doesn't have problems, but it seems you've done something unusual here to have caused this to occur. Is there any additional information you can give me as to what you did before this?

rekordbox is capable of moving the database and music to an external drive so you can save the internal space and make a portable collection... but it doesn't sound like you've been going the right way about it.

Got it! The Video was helpful. I just selected the wrong database in the preferences. I thought the Metadata was stored in the XML-file. Thanks for your help.

Awesome! Correct, the data is all stored in the library - the XML file is really for importing/exporting data from/to other applications.
