XDJ1000 MK2, DDJ-XP1, DJM450 Connection...

Hi all,

Looking for help here, well duh! Anyways, I have 2 XDJ1000 MKII's and my DDJ-XP1 hooked up to my laptop. Was told I had to have the XDJs connected to the laptop to enable full functionality of the DDJ-XP1. The mixer I had was a DJM700. I now have a DJM450 and noticed I can hook it up to my laptop. What is the point of this function? If I connect it up does that mean I no longer have to connect my XDJs and still get full functionality of the DDJ-XP1?

Thanks

Stuart Tennant

The XP1 can connect directly to an XDJ-1000MK2 to control hot cues, etc., but as it's primarily designed as a rekordbox controller, you will get more out of it by using it that way.

It all depends on how you want to DJ and what you want that device to do.

Hi, Pulse. Thanks for responding. Maybe I wasn't being clear. With my DJM700 I did have the XDJ's and the XP1 hooked up and love the extra functionality. Now I have a DJM450 and noticed it can be connected to the laptop. I just wondered if that meant I still need to connect my XDJs up to the laptop to get the full use of the XP1. I am guessing that the laptop hook up from the DJM450 is to hook up 2 XDJs/CDJs to the laptop without having to connect them individually. Basically, the DJM450 laptop connection is pointless for me as my XDJs will be connected to the laptop anyway due to my use of the XP1.

While you are here. Is there a reason why when I press my hot cues on the XP1 I can't get more rapid repeats than 1 beat in length, even if I press them quicker than that?

The DJM connecting has nothing to do with the XP1's functionality. The only advantage you would have is that you don't need to connect the audio from the XDJs/CDJs to the DJM, the DJM can be configured as the audio device within the DJ software.

Re: hot cues; disable the QUANTIZE function, either completely, or just for hot cues within rekordbox preferences.
