How to Back Up Music and Rekordbox database for cues etc with My Folders Structure

Hi, I know rekordbox has the back up feature but it doesn't back up my folders and files in the same folders i had it.  Eg. i have by genre then date but it backs up all files by artist folders.  This is not how i organize my music.  Is there any way to back up files from computer to external hard drive and save all cue points etc with my filing structure?  If the relocate worked easily on a mass scale maybe that would help but rekordbox makes it so difficult for simple things serato got right from the beginning

I use a program called Chrono Sync. You have to pay for it but i find it great for keeping my spare external drives in sync.

I have Chrono Sync for years. I don’t know how to get Rekordbox to read data to show all playlist and cue points as a back up instead of using the move Rekordbox data in the settings. I want to have a back up for second laptop

I am sorry but I don't really understand you are trying to do to be honest but perhaps if I explain what I do it might help or even be similar to what you are trying to do.

1. I only play from RB using an external HDD.

2. That HDD is mirror copied to another to another external HDD using ChronoSync

3. If the first HDD was to fail I would just plug in the backup one and everything would be there.

Cloesy has the right idea; it's exactly what I do, and I'm not saying you have to do this for it to work for you, but it's the easiest way...

- Move your database and music collection (in the existing structure) to an external drive.

- Relocate all of your songs in your collection; it's a one-step process since the only thing that's changed for the song folder structure is the parent drive location.

- Clone that external drive.

- Create a backup regularly, whether through rekordbox or using a backup service like Backblaze.

thanks. Is there a feature request for better file management that's on the list to be updated? with that and file relocation which could of been better and could of help something like this be simplified.  Starting to regret getting rekordbox controller

no it's not. I have to point it to the exact file patch where one song is and hope and pray the other songs is in the same folder. Why can't it just search the main folder i assign and relocation searches all sub folders. Its like I'm doing all the work for the software. The relocation function is flawed and searching all sub folders is how it should be.

If you mad multiple moves, then yes, you need to make multiple relocations. My question would be "Why are you moving your music around so much after importing it?"

this comes down to backing up as well and i know you work for pioneer but don't sit there and act like the way the relocation feature work is great. I made a mistake when naming my main folder and wanted to correct it and now its chaos for rekordbox.  Serato dj pro was a simple fix.  Rekordbox makes simple tasks difficult. Even using an internal hard drive and backing up to an external is an issue and instead pushing to simplify and submit a request, pushing it to help your user base, your here defending something that is clearly difficult to use when it comes to file management. any thanks for your help

I don't just work for Pioneer DJ, I'm a DJ myself (which is how I got here in the first place), so I am intimately familiar with music management and organization.

I'm explaining the way it works and what you can do to use it, I'm not defending the way it's done. I know there are ways it can be improved, but this is how it works now so rather than arguing about why it doesn't work another way, I can share my advice and experience.
