MacBook Pro 2015 plus XDJ RX2 Decision???

Hi all I’m desperately seeking some help and advice? I’m in the process of Purchasing an XDJ RX2 to enable me to play at Weddings Party’s and literally any function... I know I can use flash drives stand alone but back in the day used to use the original Pioneer DJS software via a laptop and external DJM 600. And like having the library on screen. I’ve been told to get a MacBook Pro but the best I can afford is a 2015 13” MacBook Pro 512gb SSD, 16 RAM, i7 3.1 ghz razer processor at £1045. From a certified Apple refurbisher. My question is if I load my 16’000 tracks of all genres into rekordbox will this MacBook cope and be sufficient? Some people have said use an external hard drive but with 512gb SSD why would I? Surely it won’t slow down will it as ALL I’m ever gonna use it for is DJing/music access? Thanks so much in advance for any much needed help 👍🏻

YAAAAAAH! DJS!

MAN that software was... something! lol

I'm rocking a Mid-2015 with i7 and 16GB RAM and seldom have any issues with rekordbox, even when testing video performance. I've got over 50,000 songs on an external SSD (I never store my music internal; allows me to move between computers, plus more breathing room on the internal drive). The other advantage to the external drive is if you prepare your content and "export" it to that same drive, it doesn't duplicate the music, just prepares an export database that the XDJ-RX2 could read, so you'd be set to use it as a stand-alone (without the computer) should the need arise.

Ahh that’s fantastic and very nostalgic! So basically I’d have the rekordbox software on the MacBook and you’d suggest it’s far better to run a separate SSD drive with the music on it? Would you envisage issues then if I stored it on the 512gb SSD internally on the actual MacBook then? Or it’s just more feasible to have it separate as I can then use it directly to the RX2 if I wanted to? Thanks so much 👍🏻

It would just result in a cheaper option for storage capacity when using an external option rather than paying for Apple to provide a larger internal drive.
