Usually it's the reverse - not using a DC adapter means the LEDs are dimmer. Did you try connecting it to only the DC power (disconnect the USB) to see if it's working then?
Hi, I’m currently using my DDJ-RR running Rekordbox with my MacBook Pro. One of the USB ports on my MBP doesn’t work so I’m using a D-Link mains powered hub to extend the USB ports. The DDJ is running perfectly with this method. I wanted to see if I could use the DDJ with the power supply too but for some reason it won’t function? The lights on the Ddj become dim when using the power supply? It’s mainly as a precaution as I just wanted to make sure I’m not putting too much strain on my MBP especially as I’m using the one USB port. I’m thinking that as I’m already using a mains powered hub that the DDJ is being supported by the extra power the hub provides and the mains adapter is then not needed? Anyone encountered a similar issue? Thanks

Hi!
I just was wondering the same. In my case the DDJ-RR is working properly with both power sources, which the only difference LEDs are dimmer with the USB power source (I understood it`s normal)
However I would like to know if there`s any recomendation about which power source is best, more reliable or more able to prevent faliures.
In my case I'm using also a Macbook Pro and sometimes I feel that USB power supply would have less voltage oscillation than the main AC line (specially when I go to places where I know there`s no ground connection and/or I'm connected in the same line where high consumption equipment is).
Maybe it has nothing to do, or there`s no specific information about that, but I would like to know if it's possible.
Thanks!
