It's a nice unit, but will it stand the test of time.
That's all for now, closing this down as we discourage competitor-speak, given the history of it degrading quickly.
Thanks for your comments.
Hi Pioneer Team,
I did a long meandering comparison video of these two products and while I did eventually decide to go with the RX2, it was based more on software than on the hardware and my regular usage of the NXS2 system.
Here are my thoughts on what I would like to see in the RX3 after using the Prime 4 and comparing it with my NXS2 system.
If all these features are added. I will definitely ditch the RX2 and get an RX3. also some of these features would be welcome adds for the NXS2 system, such as the 64 beat jump, better displays, and additional parameters on effects.

For me its simple.
NO i do not hate Denon. However does the Prime 4 not deliver what is promised, without buying the hardware first.
If i even would look at the Prime 4 the first thing they should have done is to get people to be able to try out Prime engine without having the hardware SC 5000 / Prime 4, which in comparison to Rekordbox are a real joke.
And what is hardware if the software does not working well?
I would not buy P4 without be able to check if my RBX library works as advertised by Denon. Well It does not work in Software. Only hardware.
You only get EQ on the effects on the higher end tier hardware and that is for a reason.
DJM 909, 2000, 900 Nxs2
Thats about it.
With all the stuff you are asking for it will be a much much heftier pricetag and the hardware will be bulkier. Im not keen on booth.
Engine prime has nothing on Rekordbox. Sure it could be further developed but as of now. NOPE!
Ok.
I can sign off on 64 beatsjump, multitouchscreen, SD card slots and maybe a drive bay!
Faster loadingtimes?
If you do not plan on playing mixtapes, the loadingtime are just fine. However do they need to increase the speed when having big drives with over +10 000 tracks. But thats not load, but readspeed. USB 2.0 are stoneage by now.
The XDJ RX2 are just perfect if you look at when it was launched ahead of Denon. If the Prime 4 would not be any better and for that price i would be offended.
To me less is more, more important then gadgets. Sure its a nice feature to have EQ on the FX, but its far from a dealbreaker. But you get almost two RX2s for the same price what a DJM 900 NXS2 cost. And almost 6 RX2 for the price of a NXS2 complete setup!
Think about that.
And not many people rave over Denon's Prime Series
They should have made real waves by now, but they have not.
Denon will be known as the company that went from pro dj developer to mobile developer.
Their SC 5000 sell slim, and so will Prime 4
I play on regular basis both clubs, venues and parties. With the NXS2 or RX2 in the booth im happy and content.
With Denon in the booth in regards to Prime Engine, i would be worried!
The way I look at it... is the Prime 4 is a far more capable piece of hardware and in so many ways better than the RX2. If I was coming from Serato, I would probably have gone the route of the Prime 4, but being someone that is deep in the Pioneer ecosystem with the NXS2, I really did need to be completely blown away to switch. The fact is... they got really close, but it's like changing a bank, you don't want to have to reset all your bill payments, so you stick with them even if the bank across the street has better interest rates.
This Prime 4 hardware is exceptional... you have to consider they've only been in the software game a couple years, while Pioneer has been at it with Rekordbox many times that. The fact that the Prime 4 is at the level of the RX2 and it was a toss up on what machine to go with is why I bringing this feedback up for Pioneer, and that's coming from someone that loves their NXS2 system.
The Prime Series launched in the summer of 2017 and their software is catching up with their hardware leading the way. Some of the stuff is gimmicky. Like LCDs in the platters, but other stuff, like a high quality pitch slider is what made me really positive on their system. Also I see no reason to not provide EQ for effects. It seems like such a basic feature
Pioneer is certainly making a large margin on their products, they could leave the NXS2 and RX2 alone, but I don't expect it to maintain it's status if Denon keeps advancing, especially in the software department, given how good the hardware is. Granted we'll have to see where Denon goes from here.
