track phrasing with the XDJ 700's

Just started using my first ever pair of multimedia decks, I'm on xdj 700's.

My first question is how do I set up and monitor the track phrasing correctly in the on screen display on an xdj 700?I'm aware I need to analyse a track in Rekordbox and export it via Sync to a playlist on my USB stick, but when I do that and play it on the XDJ, the bar count just remains still.

When I look at the phase meter, the blue section doesn't seem to count bars it just stays on -- -- . I was hoping to use it to monitor the track phrasing and help me keep count of what bar I'm in.

Do I have to manually set cue points at all the relevant points in the tracks phrasing to get an accurate bar count?

Ie set a cue point manually at every 16 bars?

What am I doing wrong here, or am I just misunderstanding how the interface works?

thanks

Two different things to address...

The phase meter shows you the master deck (orange) and the current deck (blue) as to which beat it's on within the bar as determined by the grid.

The beat countdown indicates the number of beats/bars from the nearest cue point. If you have one set at the end of a breakdown, for example, it would count to that so you know how long until that point. But yes, you would have to set those yourself.

hi, thanks for this, understand about the cues and have it working now via memory cues.

so when you set analysis to 'phrasing' this has no functionality with the xdj display, it's purely for the GUI in Rekordbox whilst in performance mode?
